Does anyone dress up their dog?

Brown and Grey have raincoats because I have to take them to the bathroom on a leash (yet I have no raincoat). Grey took a liking to his "Frank" shirt...it's a Ballpark hotdog shirt that says, "Be Big. Be Meaty. Be Frank." When he seems me with that thing, he runs and sits in front of me, hoping I'll let him wear it. I really can't explain this obsession, but he loves that stupid shirt.

Mick has an entire drawer full of bandanas.  Lately I've just been putting one on him around Christmas (usually rotating between all the Christmas ones), and St Patrick's Day (he has 2 4H ones).  He also has one from our therapy group that he wears on visits.  Because of health issues, he wears a coat at times in the winter (and sometimes a scarf, if it's bitter cold).  Other than that, he gets dressed up for Halloween, and that's it.

Nope, I never dress Grady or Aspen.

My sister who owns a Chi dressers her dog up all the time.
That dog has a bigger wardrobe than I do. [:D

I guess plain jumpers are ok if they serve a purpose, such as keeping the dog warm,i've used them on occasion, also use bandana's sometimes. But i honestly can not stand to see dogs dressed up in ridiculous outfits just for fashions sakes :( I've seen dogs in little shoes and frilly dresses etc and it just breaks my heart [:'(] They must know how they look and must feel very uncomfortable being dressed up like some doll or human baby. Dogs are dogs, not fashion statements IMHO!
Each to their own i suppose, but for me i would never dress my dogs up for fashions sake,i have a daughter for that [;)] I mean,my dogs are my kids, but i draw the line at dressing them up like one! They deserve to be treated with dignity, and IMHO dressing them up takes that away.

This morning it was pouring down rain, so I Put April's raincoat on her, then I found a hat I had bought a long time ago and she never wore so I put that on her too, did not want her to get wet, ya know. [:D]

~LOL~  Mick, you handsome devil.  It's a good thing you have some weight on ya or you'd float away with all those balloons. ~LOL~

The funny thing is, with his advanced age and health problems, he's lost enough muscle in his back legs that we were saying the balloons were holding him up!

I do but usually to keep her warm and not really to look cute.  Usually I see small dogs being dress up by their mama/papa's.  I guess it looks more acceptable when you see a small dog dress up then a big dogs.  Still I do see some people put shirts on their big dogs.

    Mick looks so cute!!!

I don't see why dressing up dogs for fun or fashion or whatever is a big deal. As long as the dog is comfortable (ie, not bundled up in August) and well cared for, what difference does it make?

Emma and I have matching t shirts, and I'd love to get more matching shirt sets (since we have Teenie now) and three fleece coats that match, for us. That probably makes me a dork, but oh well, LOL. They LIKE wearing clothes, and I like dressing them. They're well fed, exersized daily, and vetted regularly. Nobody can argue that they're not well cared for. Why does it matter if I bought them matching party dresses for Christmas??? LOL

Dakota has bandanas for just about every holiday.  He also has some costumes.  Yes, the costumes are silly, but many times, I put him in the costumes just for pictures.  Dakota's goofy pictures have cheered up many people.  For example, my very sick grandpa (he has Parkinson's) absolutely loves Dakota, so I have given him various pictures of Dakota in costumes.  Since Grandpa is confined to a chair all day, he frequently looks over at Dakota's pictures and smiles.  You can see a few other of Dakota's costumes on his Dogster page at [linkhttp://www.dogster.com/?178294]http://www.dogster.com/?178294[/link].  Hey, if one costume can make one person smile, then it's worth it in my opinion.
