    Mindless Chatter Monday

I am soooooo not awake yet. Tired tired tired.

Sat. I had big plans to clean the house and the car and do laundry etc. But, I ended up going to the adopt a thon and got Lily microchipped and got Neiko and Dakota their DHLPP shots ($5 wohoo). Then I met up with a friend at another park and let the dogs run around and go swimming. From there we went over to the East Lansing art fair. At first I thought  "hmmm maybe I shouldn't take all 3 dogs to an art fair" but I know that Dakota is perfect in big crowds and Neiko needs to learn to behave in big crowds. Plus it would have been great socialization for Lily. So, I took them all.

They were FANTASTIC! I could not believe it. Dakota walked on my left side the entire time while Neiko and Lily walked on my right. They didn't lunge at anyone or break heal the entire time (4 hrs!). I used commands like "follow me" for them to walk behind me to weave through the crowd. "Wait" for them to wait and let people pass, "leave it" when they tried to sniff people or eat stuff off the ground, and of course "heel". I could put them in a sit stay while I went in different booths to check out the art and everything. I got soooo many compliments about how well behaved and well trained they all were plus they got mucho attention. We could hardly walk 5 feet before someone would stop us and ask to pet the dogs. They were loving it.

When Sunday came around, my sister came up to stay and we decided to go back to the art fair. I took all 3 dogs again and they were the same. Very good doggies. I'm so proud. It was funny because nobody in my family believes that my dogs are well trained. All they see is a mass of wiggly jumpy hyper active dogs. My sister didn't think I should take the dogs and I was like "you'll see!". She believes me now :)

I spent way too much money at the art fair though. I love unique things though so I'd rather spend my money at an art fair than at some place like Walmart. I got some great necklace charms, a petroglyph clay tablet to go with my "around the world" theme that I have going on in my house. I bought some diaper cakes for my sisters shower, a big piece of hand made cheese that has holes in it for the cat, a gift for my mom and I had an artist draw my doggies. I'll post a pic of it in the picture forum.

Between all of that I did get my house cleaning done and made a dent in my laundry. Tonight I have to mow the lawn, finish laundry, pack for my trip and clean my car.

    Big day ahead!

I need to do laundry too. The next 2 nights I'm working so it will be way piled up by the time I get back. I can only imagine what the kitchen will look like by Wednesday.

I'm glad that your trio was well-behaved :)

     I'M SO BURNT!!!!

I was outside Saturday for 45-ish minutes, and my shoulders and arms are burnt to a crisp!  I have to keep having DH put lotion on me, as my skin gets that awful "crumpling paper" feeling after a few hours.  I might go out to look for a different lotion today, I've heard Nivea can be helpful.  The hard part is that I'm allergic to aloe, so that knocks out most sunburn remedies. Sad

It's my own fault though, I wasn't wearing sunscreen, and I made the mistake of thinking "I'll only be out for a little while!". Tongue Tied

On the plus side, Honor's one tired pup!  She spent all Saturday "helping" my brother till the soil in my mom's garden, and we went to the dog park for a long time yesterday, so she seems more than willing to just lounge around today!  It's kind of nice, usually she's a little bullet, winging from one end of the apartment to the other.

And...I'm one pound away from getting a new article of clothing!  DH and I have a system where I get a new piece of clothing (or shoes) for every 10 pounds I lose.  We just started this a month or two ago, and I'm trying to make gradual changes to my diet.  And I'm almost at the first 10 lb. mark! Woohoo!

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning!

We had a nice weekend. Saturday we went to our first dock diving event. We had a great time. Salem jumped the practice jumps, but he got side tracked when it came time to do the competition jump and he wouldn't do it, lol. We had to fish his toy out with a net. He was fine for the practice, but the announcer and all of the people cheering made him nervous and he just wouldn't perform. This was his first time so we will try again after more practice. I'm glad we went. It was a really great group of people and there were lots of venders and stuff so it was fun. We found a new agility club that has a puppy class about to start that Cheza is going to do if we can work out scheduling.

Yesterday Cheza was super brat dog. I'm not sure what was with her. The day started with me letting her outside. I brought her back up to the bedroom and we were going to watch a movie in bed, and she jumped on the bed and peed! She had just been outside. That kind of threw off the movie plans, lol. I put her outside again while I got a load of laundry started and while she was outside she pulled up and ripped up every single lily pad from my pond, Destroyed the new plant that I bought Saturday and ripped out my first lily flower of the year that had yet to open. I was so depressed I cryed. I put so much work into that pond. I guess at least she didn't eat my fish. She knew I would be upset when I came outside. As soon as she saw me coming outside she slunk off to the other side of the yard. I didn't yell at her or anything, I guess she could just sense that I was upset. So for now Cheza is outside with supervision only.

I'm so stressing over Kenya lately.  We have the opportunities to add 4 new titles in the next month and a half.  First, this weekend we are doing three consecutive shows.  DH asked me this morning which is most important, and I said ALL b/c we have to Q EVERY time in order to title in one weekend.  Then the next week we have an AHBA herding instinct clinic with a judge who has herding champion GSDs.  I'm not as nervous about that, since it's an instinct test.  Nothing really to prepare for.  I've heard good things about the judge.  I'm just hoping the other people aren't too snotty to me since I've never really been on a farm before, lol.  I'm a city person, ok?  Then the weekend after that we have the TDI test in Grand Ledge.  This one I'm actually looking forward to.  I know she can pass, we just have to keep proofing the "leave it" since the TDI is basically the CGC with the addition of food on the ground.  Later in June is the UKC Premier.  I'd entertained the thought of entering novice obedience, but missed the closing date so I'll be going as a spectator and hope to see some of you (Maxs Mom, are you dock diving?).  Then in July we have the ATTS temperament test.  This one is scaring the bejeezes out of me!  It is a rather strange test and I made the mistake of signing up at the police academy.  The tester is a K9 sergeant and he will be testing Kenya against the GSD breed standard.  For example, for the protection instinct, a dog like Coke would be expected to not freak out and run and hopefully show interested in the agressor.  However a dog like Kenya is expected at the very least to hold position, definitely NOT show any fear or hesitation (another breed might be allowed to show fear as long as there's recovery), and preferably bark or show controlled aggression.  Hmmmm....  I've been chatting with the guy and mentioned Kenya is a soft dog.  I really hope he just looks at her temperament as a companion, even though she is a working line GSD and this is a police K9 academy.

    I'm allergic to aloe too!

I get the Ocean Potion lotion - it has aloe in it, but not much - it doesn't bother me, and really really works. It's pretty cheap too - like $3 for a large bottle - I got mine at Walmart, but you could probably get it anywhere

w00t!  Cheesecakes in the oven!  Wish me luck that I can get it completely chilled before I break down and have a slice....mmmmm....its chocolate peanut butter.

I can't wait to get my fence up.  Once I do, if that crazy lady from next door comes in my yard one more time, I will charge her with trespassing.  I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt about not being overly childish, but I'm not so sure now.  The other night someone turned on the outside tap and pulled down part of my fence.  Then there was some crushed glass out there that I had to clean up before I could let my dogs play.  She's lucky I inspect the yard before I let the dogs go.  Then yesterday I was out playing with the dogs and I stopped to chat with the guy that lives behind me.  He's a nice guy, older and he loves my dogs.  Anyway, he stops chatting for a second and he's looking over my shoulder, so I turn to look where he's looking and Crazy Lady is peeking around the corner of her house at my dogs.  She came around the corner and towards where I have the temp fence set up, then she saw me and quickly turned around and walked away.  Just now, I saw her walking past my house and so I watched her.  Sure enough she turned into my yard.  We had moved our pull behind trailer out from beside the yard and Kale's little razer scooter had been leaning on it.  When we moved the trailer we leaned the scooter up against her house and kind of forgot about it.  Whoops, the thing weighs all of 2 pounds though.  She just grabbed it and chucked it across my yard.  Then she saw me watching her out the window and took off.

Oh and the glass?  It was right under one of her windows, which is why I think it was her.  Why would someone do that?  I not only have 2 dogs, but 2 kids as well, so even if she doesn't like dogs....

Thanks for the tip!  It's so hard to find sunburn remedies and lotions without aloe.  It's nice to meet someone else who's allergic to it too!

Yep! I get a horrible reaction to it - feels like my skin is on fire and I just want to rip it off! Nothing helps when I get aloe on me either.....*sigh*

But this lotion really helps the sunburn itchies, and doesn't irritate me! We found it when we went to Cocoa Beach and all got badly burnt... worked great for everyone! Not bad smelling either!
