    Annoying summer people (vent)

So...it's getting to be summer! "Yay!" right? Nope...Confused

The summer people who live next door to my parents came "home" this weekend. So, I said "Hi, how was your winter" Blah Blah Blah. They're (husband & wife) pretty nice.Their daughter was there, but, She's VERY stuck up and not very friendly at all. She rarely even looks at us if we're outside, nevermind say "hi". So, I was in the kitchen and Apollo was in the living room. He loves to sit in this old leather chair my Dad has and look out the window. The phone rang, it was the neighbors. My Mom thought they'd want to borrow something...nope. They called to ask if Apollo was going to "glare" at them all day because their daughter started to feel a little threatend because she's afraid of big dogs. Glare? Um...he's in the house, not barking or growling, just looking at her through the window because she was unpacking her car. We didn't see her at all last summer, so she didn't know I got him. My Mom told them that it's going to be getting nicer out and I bring him over a lot, he's friendly if she'd like to meet him to come on over, and unless he's excessive barking or loose really he's not doing anything wrong. The neighbors who we've never had any problems with since we met them (5 years ago) FLIPPED OUT saying since they're tax payers they should be able to enjoy their summer and have their daughter welcome anytime and not have her safety threatend. Hello! We're tax payers too (I don't even know what that has to do with anything though)! I just hope this entire summer isn't going to be like this...back & forth petty arguing. I left him in the living room since he wasn't doing anything wrong....he was laying down in the chair with his head on the window sill half asleep. I understand not everyone loves big dogs (or any dogs) but he was inside! Plus, they're only here for 3 months out the entire year! Sheesh!

I couldnt help but laugh. I mean he is just sitting there!! And he's a dog. Like dogs know what "glaring" means.

Did he tell your mom any good gossip on the neighbor girl?

Your mom should have said, "Oh I'm so glad you called, I was just going to call you because your daughter is glaring across the street at our dog, and he is starting to feel a little threatened because he is afraid of glaring girls... Angel

OMG....give me a break, she feels THREATENED by a slouching chair potato who was half asleep inside the house??

Then I guess she'd really be threatened by my 6# pom who's currently sleeping at the edge of the open garage door.

I love  this response!!!  Really ... since it doesn't look like you're going to be "Best Buds" with her in any case, just tell her to put on her Big Girl panties and deal with it.  If they do complain, who are they going to complain to and about what???  I can just hear the response of a cop who gets called because someone's dog is looking out the window at someone else. Embarrassed

I don't think they can complain to anyone...but still! He was being such a laaaaazy boy because it it very warm out, he was literally half asleep- he actually might've been sleeping but sometimes one eye will look open!! I just hope all summer they don't give me a hard time. I don't let him run lose- ever. I don't let him bark excessively either. So, I really don't know what they can do. My Mom thinks they just have a stick up their butt because it's a pain moving stuff in. I just couldn't believe they would actually can and complain!

Wow talk about over reacting. She sounds like she needs a reality check or something. lol If they do call a cop out then I feel very sorry for that officer.

    • Neighbor:  I want to report the dog next door.  He is staring out the window at my daughter.
    • Police:  Why is that a problem?
    • Neighbor:  My daughter is scared of big dogs.
    • Police:  What is the dog doing?  Is he barking or growling?
    • Neighbor:  No, he is just looking out the window and sleeping.
    • Police:  Sleeping??  Is the window open so that the dog could jump out?
    • Neighbor:  No, he is just looking through the glass.   [I am making this assumption.]
    • Police:  Ma'am, this is not a police matter.  Have you considered having your daughter see a psychiatrist?
    • Neighbor:  My daughter does not need to see a doctor!!
    • Police:  Ma'am, there are no laws against allowing a dog to look out a closed window.  I suggest that your daughter just avoid looking into that window.
    • Neighbor:  We shouldn't have to put up with this!
    • Police:  Then I suggest that you talk to your city councilman about getting a new law passed.
    • Neighbor:  You can't help me at all??
    • Police:  No, I am afraid not, Ma'am.
    • Neighbor:  Thanks a lot!    (click)
    • Police:  Yeh, Joe, I just got another good one.  A crazy lady wants a law that makes it illegal for a dog to look out a closed window.

Huh?  Agh...stupid, stupid people!  If I hadn't seen "Cops", I would not believe that people call for such petty reasons.

    • Gold Top Dog

Wow... that's so ridiculous. I picture this girl as Veruca Salt from the old Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory, heh.

    • Gold Top Dog

The windows were open, but they're screened.

LOL....I love your post! My Mom read it and was laughing too!!!! Big Smile

    • Gold Top Dog

I just wanted to say that that is absolutely ridiculous! I think my mom would have probably laughed and hung the phone up on them if that was her. I really like some of the responses, they gave me a good laugh. Big Smile

I would have said "I'm glad you called -- I'm getting quite uncomfortable that your daughter is STARING into our window -- We live here year round and it makes me very uneasy having someone stare INTO our house like that!

    • Gold Top Dog

This is pretty funny to me.  My neighbors Doberman is always in the window looking at us--sometimes he runs out the doggie door and barks at us from the yard!  Imagine what that girl would think of living here???

    • Gold Top Dog

It's not like their daughter is very young either...she's in her late 30's, maybe early 40's. So, she's defiantly not a child here.

She would probably be hysterical if she lived w/ the Dobie looking at her...lol!
