Someone stop me!

    Someone stop me!

The next month and a half seems INSANE as far as dog activities!  With the price of gas going up and up, I don't know whether to be happy we're doing so many things together (and the possibility of 4 new titles, though that's not the motivation), or be in despair over the cost!  For starters, we have agility every Monday and rally group every Sunday, both 45 minutes drive each way.  Then we have SchH club every other Friday, 1.5 hr drive each way.  This week, a rescue wants me to go eval a shelter dog 45 minutes away, and if they decide they want her pulled, that means a return trip for me and likely a trip to my vet who is not here in town.  May 23, 24, and 25 we have shows, 1.5 hours away each way, and we're driving there and back each day, except the 23rd when we have to go on to SchH club and then home.  May 31 is a herding instinct test, 45 minutes away.  June 7 is a TDI (therapy dog org) test 1 hour away and July 12 is a TT (temperament test) 2.5 hours each way.  Then the UKC Premier is June 13-15, 1.5 hours away.  They don't do rally, but we may enter obedience or just go down for one day to see the GSDs in conformation and the dock diving.  Oh and these are just Kenya's activities.  Yikes!

Sorry cant help you. I know gas is high but I would love to be able to do all the dog activities you do. If you plan on having kids just ENJOY this right now. Kids wont stop you doing stuff but will make you put stuff on hold for a little while. But I will be doing agility soon enough.

Have fun!! I envy you and all your activities.

Oh, to have such problems!  I wish I could have so many activities so close, it's three or more hours for me! Try to find somebody to travel with you and split the gas money. We did that in the '70s during the gas shortage and it worked great. We made good friends out of casual aquaintences.

Sounds similar to my insane schedule -- and yes, gas is KILLING me right now.

Monday nights I have puppy class with Kaiser.  Wednesday nights I have agility with Luke.  This weekend we're gone Friday - Sunday to an agility trial 3 hours away (so that's two nights of hotel).  Next weekend we're at an agility trial 2 hours away, but my friend has a place to stay in that town so we're saving big on hotel costs for that trial.

I average two trials a month, typically, but usually they're not back to back!  I usually take Luke to the chiropractor (another hour drive!) before each trial, but this time I decided to put his appointment right between the two trials to save $$.

Why are you driving home each day for your trial?  I would think that the money you spend on gas could easily pay for a hotel room, wouldn't it?

That sounds a bit like my schedule too. I am trying to stay closer to home but...

We have an agility event May 31 (Novi), June 7 (Rochester still waiting for confirmation) and UKC Premier on Sunday only. We have dock events with Teddi May 17. UKC Premier (Friday and Sunday), Detroit River Days June 21 & 22, and a pond jump 28 & 29.

For this session we have agility with Belle on Mon, and Teddi on Thursday. My hope is the next session (starting in early June I think) both dogs will be on Monday night. I work in Ann Arbor, and the classes are in Ann Arbor so I have to drive home (30 miles) get the dogs and drive back.

UKC Premier (I hope I can meet you Liesje) I will be there Friday and Sunday. I was going to get a hotel and do all three days but my nephews wedding in on Saturday so that means a trip to Lansing without dogs. So I drive home from Kzoo on Friday, go to Lansing Sat, back to Kzoo Sunday. It is a fun event I really want to do it but that is my big travel splurge.

If we are not setting up our pop up I can take DH's car which gets better mileage than my Explorer.
