Help me find a new ID tag

We got Misty a lovely ID tag as a puppy, but now 18 mos later, the text is almost undetectable and I have always hated how the metal makes her white fur turn dirty/gray looking even though the tag was hot pink.  Soooooo, what I want is a good tag that will keep it's imprinting for a LOOOONG time, and that will not dirty my sweet girl's lovely white coat.  Cute is wonderful, but I'm trying to be more practical this time, so even just round or rectangular is fine.  She currently has a bone shape with really cool text.  I'm also looking for those rubbery things that fit around the tags to keep them from clanking together....I hate that sound, lol!!!!

I've considered Embossed Dog Tags. A silencer comes with it.

those are certainly reasonably priced.....I wonder if the embossing wears down easily?  I know my credit cards (although abused, lol) sometimes get worn down.  I'm definitely bookmarking that site, thanks.

I used etched metal tags from either Boomerang, or the company that makes the official CGC tags.  Both sites have different shapes/sizes and you can have etching on the front and back.  I've never paid more than $8 for a tag.

Another vote for Boomerang.  My dogs and cats have had their stainless steel tags from Boomerang for years, and they still look brand new.

These are the folks who do the tags for CGC dogs (AKC certificate):

You have a choice of metal, brass, gold or plastic.  The plastic ones are one color laminated on another so the "lettering" is cut into the second and shows thru from the first color or it's etched into a multilayer color on color plastic somehow. You might periodically have to take a toothbrush to it to scrub but they stay nice and are vivid.

Depending on the size of the tag -- I've used the rings that go around keys to silence tags.  Available at most any grocery or hardware store.

I'll put another vote for the boomerang tags. Ours still look good. However, if you don't want to bother with tags at all, we also have embroidered collars from LLBean. We had to buy them for agility, because they didn't want any tags getting caught in the equipment. I use them when I can't find something to take the tag from one collar to put it on another.

We have the collar tags from Boomerang and may never need to replace them if the use over the last two years is any indication of wearability.

Boomerang Tags are extremely durable. Mine have been wearing them forever, and they've never broken or faded.

Another vote for Boomerang tags.  I've had them on my boyz for 2 years  & they still look new.  I also have a white dog & they do not make his coat grungy looking.  I got some tag silencers from Petco.  They have several different shapes...bone, large & small round & I believe heart shapes.  The silencers also glow in the dark.
