    Mindless Chatter - TGIF!!!

     TGIF!!

Yesterday was a looong day. I was pretty productive at work though and got a lot of good stuff done. Maybe I should bring Neiko to work every day and I'll be 100% more productive! He was so good. Nobody even knew he was here except for the 2 guys that sit near me. They loved him too, he shook his bootie for them and won them over instantly.

I took Lily and Neiko to get their blood drawn from the fish oil study. Lily wanted no part of it. We couldn't get her blood drawn for nothing. They tried the jugular and her leg. She just wasn't having it and I told them to stop trying after a while. She had a terrified look on her face and I didn't want to put her through that anymore. Poor baby. So she won't be part of the study. Neiko was better and they got his blood, but he still didn't like it. He'll get 5 fish oil caps a day for 30 days then get his blood drawn again.

Then we went to Lily's training class where we worked on someone knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell. We trained the dogs to bark to make us aware but quiet when we said to. We worked on the jogger thing too and trying to get the dogs to jump up. Of course Lily did the stinker! It's 1 step forward and 3 steps back with her jumping.

After class I was asked to do a disc dog demo at a fundraiser doggy event in Sept. That'll be cool. Hopefully we'll have a good solid routine down by then. I worked with Neiko twice yesterday and he's really getting the trick work. The only issue is that he wants that frisbee thrown so bad that he barks at me when I'm making him do tricks, like "Throw the damn frisbee, woman forget this weave through the legs garbage!"

Today I have happy hour with some friends then I'm going to video tape a disc dog foster that we have. She really needs to go to an athletic home. She's a beautiful and great dog with lots of potential.

Back at work after a day and a half off. I wish I were not here. My boss just yelled at me about a conversation I had with our Director. He asked a simple question and was satisfied with my answer and she went off that "this is how it is". I tried to tell her what he was talking about was different but she would have no part of it. I wish they would do something about her. Getting yelled at for irrelevant BS just makes my day!

I just want to go ride my horse!

Teddi was great at her agility class last night. I let DH work her since my toe is still tender. She was confused why 'dad' was doing it but was GREAT. They worked on tools to teach front and rear crosses, and "running" to the table and staying up on it. The only time she started to fade was on the stay work at the end. She was tired and wanted to go home. It was a late night for all of us too. Her class ends at 9:30 she usually is not still working at that hour.

They should draw Pirate's blood - the techs LOVE him because he's super-well behaved for it. They said he just gets nice and stiff.

Moving moving moving - I'm almost done packing and then the stuff will sit in the dining room until we get an apartment later this summer. We're staying at BF's parents until then. This should be fun.

Well my kitten I saved died last night. I dont know why. He seemed perfectly fine and then I came home from a neighbors and he was dead. They are 1 week and 3 days old so I am confused at why he's gone.

The other's have their eyes open now. And they found their voices too. Samantha gets mad at me because I wont let her hold them.

I was at a Microsoft event all morning and the room was freezing - it was all about Server 2008 so not too relevant for me.  So I read "The other end of the leash" instead LOL

Just took B for a walk and he was sooo awesome - do you think he knows he needs to be more chilled now that he's a CGC We stopped and chatted with a woman that I know well who happens to be terrified of dogs and I told him to down and he did for the whole time.  then on the way back we saw another neighbor and her mini-schnoodle pup and we let them say hello and then I chatted to her for ages and he just laid in the grass with the pup.  I must be quite crazy but this woman said to me I think you've done really well with him I remember when he was a pup, not many people would have worked as hard as you have.  OK that makes like 5 or 6 people that have said that to me.  The good Lord knows he ain't the easiest dog but come on folks he has no aggression, has never torn up the house or yard, has puked once in the house and had the runs twice EVER (2+ years).  Never leaves the yard (OK he used to all the time up to age 11 months or so).  As 'bad' dogs go he's a good one Big Smile

LOL especially today as he calmly walked with me sharing my apple.  to each his own ay?

OK must do some work now

Enjoy your Friday evening all - it's our usual Oyster Bar and a few beers yum yum Beer

Karen, I hate going to seminars b/c I'm ALWAYS cold and they are always sooooo boring!  I just got my promotion and new title so I don't have to do any more for a long time.

Our Avaya/Audix system is down so all of our voicemail and phone trees for the entire college are out of commission.  The system is like 15 years old and we've never had to touch it.  People's phones keep ringing and ringing....b/c it never goes to voicemail or transfers.

Tonight we're going out for dinner to celebrate DH being done student teaching.  I also need to have a little chat about chores.  I know he is going to be sad and guilty.  I'm not mad, I don't mind doing all the chores, the thing is though I don't like doing stupid stuff like picking up after his dishes or reminding him 10 times to fold his clean clothes that have been dumped on the floor for a week, or picking up trash off the counter b/c it's apparently so hard to put it in the can.  I'm OK with vacuuming, cleaning up after the dogs and cats, mopping floors, scooping the poop...all the general things that someone HAS to do.  I have a much higher standard of neatness, so I do them b/c I feel I do a better job anyway.  I'm just getting really sick of cleaning up like he is a kid, shutting the toilet, closing the shower curtain, putting the dishes in the dishwasher, putting the dirty underwear in the hamper instead of the bathroom floor..... I work all day, then walk or play with the dogs for an hour, then spend an hour doing chores, then have to run for an hour and shower after that.  By the time I get any "me" time, it's 8-9 pm and I have to be in bed by 11 so I can get up for work.  Then the "me" time is eaten up by my side jobs that I do from home for extra spending money.  I'm so tired....and I don't even have kids!!!

So, I feel like someone has switched my dog without me knowing it.  For the last 2 weeks, Honor has been....cuddly and obedient.  Neither of these things are bad, no, but I'm used to Honor being semi-aloof and the master of "I understand what you want me to do, but I want to do THIS (insert something more fun here)".  She's not exhibiting any common signs of illness, just her...cuddliness.  Lol.  I've wanted her to be more sweet and loving, and now that she is, I'm freaking out! Stick out tongue

Maybe it's because of all the training we've been doing?  She and I have been spending a TON of time practicing for her rally class that starts next week.  (Working on heel, stand, stays, etc.).  Perhaps it's all the energy she's expending, and a sweet cuddly dog comes out when she's satiated? Smile

And I'm finally getting all the cleaning done that I've been wanting to today!  I wanted to give the apartment a serious clean, so that I could pack properly.  DH thinks I'm nuts because I want to start packing, but I see no reason why I can't pack the stuff we don't use (excess pans, some clothes, unused gaming equipment).  The way I see it, I want to have all the extraneous stuff packed by the time we close, because we're officially moving in two weeks after that.  Only 22 days until the house is ours!!!  Woohoo!!!  I can't wait. Big Smile

I have finally made some sense of my dining room.  It just happened to be the room that had all the boxes piled into when we moved it, so after I put what I could away, sans closets, I quit unpacking boxes.  And here they sat.  And sat.  And sat.  Of course whenever I needed something out of one of them I would rip things apart looking, and the whole thing was starting to take over with an agenda of its own.  Well today I managed to get it beaten back a bit.  I sorted the remainder of stuff into plastic bins that I will go through one at a time when I can.  But yay!  I actually have a floor in here!

I would like to have Dakota de-barked. That is all!

    Jewlieee
I would like to have Dakota de-barked. That is all!

Awww, what has Dakota deemed necessary to vocalize about? Wink

I had the day off yesterday!  We went for a hike and I hear someone calling, "chow chow, chow chow". . .I turned, looking all over since we were alone.  A woman with a cinnamon chow comes over, "I just had to talk to you, you've got a chow too???"  So, we chatted chows for awhile.  It was sooooo funny, chows are so different than other dogs.  What would your dogs do if they met another dog, jump on each other, sniff, run and chase each other??? These two completely ignored each other.  Willow tried to lunge at her a few times then gave up and sat looking in another direction.  The other chow, also a female, Tessa, layed down with her butt to us!!

DH and I went to see the Red Sox last night.  All I want to do when I get to Fenway is eat!! I must of stopped the vendors four times.  Popcorn, here, "Down here, I'll take one!!"  The people next to us got upset, they were gone for like three innings then came back and we had moved to their seats just to make more room in the row and they were all kinds of offended.  "Geesh, we just went to get a beer", the guy was saying.  I had to bite my tongue, where'd they go to get it that it took three freakin' innings!

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone!!

    Lori

    PS--DO NOT debark Dakota!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Dakota Barks?  Wow, thats seems odd.  Crusher doesn't bark, like ever....oh, he makes noise, but he never barks.  He whines, aroos, huffs, chuffs, and grumbles.  But he never barks.  His sister does enough of that for both of them.  But I don't think debarking Crusher would make the slightest bit of difference in the noises he makes.  I guess I just always thought of Dakota as the female version of my Moose.

    • Gold Top Dog

Dakota does all of that and barks too. Her bark is more like high pitched barky whine though. She barks to keep the other dogs away from whatever she thinks they shouldn't have. She's doing it right now in fact!
