    Moron(aka Onyx) strikes again! (huskymom)

So, does anyone else have a dog that barks at the doorbell on the TV?  This is not a new concept to me.  I've seen plenty of dogs fooled into this mockery.  My cousins dog Boston, who was a great alert dog would woof every time he heard the door bell or a knock at the door, but he could be fooled by a well timed knock on the coffee table or the doorbell on the TV.  My cousin was merciless with this trick.

BUT...my sweet, innocent, albeit somewhat stupid Onyx, doesn't bark in the house.  She's not allowed and she knows it.  She did once, not too long ago have to work up to a good FOOF because some guy came into the porch and stood there looking at my dogs on the other side of the door.  No knock, nothing.(really annoying sign-up for gas supplier guy)  But on a whole, no, she doesn't bark in the house.

Last night though something overtook her.  Tyler and I were watching some really bad spoof of B-rated horror flicks(had Bruce Willis and Fergie in it...anyway)  and at some point, whether during the actual movie, or during a commercial, I'm not sure which now, there was a doorbell.  Ding Dong!  And, Ding Dong came running, Hawuffff....Hawuuuffffff....HaWUFFFFFFFFFFF!  I just laughed at her.  "Onyx you moron!  Its the TV!"  She looked at me for a second, then calmed down and went back to her book.

It wasn't until sometime later that a thought occurred to me.  We don't have a doorbell.  Nor have we ever had one in her entire life.  Why would she bark at a doorbell?   Confused

its uuuuh instinct! you know?? like cats and can openers..... Big Smile

    • Gold Top Dog

Are you kidding me?  Onyx has no instincts!

    • Gold Top Dog

Cats and can openers! LOL! I've got one of those cats! (Actually she's my foster)
But it could also be because Onyx isn't used to the sound so he's alerting you to somthing unfamiliar.

Max dosen't bark at the door bell. Max dosen't bark at much at all. He'll bark when he's been outside to long and he'll bark if some one unfamiliar walks into the house but thats about it. Oh yeah and when he wants our food too!

That's what we were thinking. But the movie we were watching was loud and full of screaming and gunshots and explosions and she didn't even blink at any of that.

CRASH!  BANG!  SCREECH! EEEEK!  BANG, BANG BANG!snore snore snore

bing bong....Holy Crap what was that?!

    • Gold Top Dog

Onyx I don't know what got ya but dat is FUNNY!

The doorbell on a Domino's commercial used to get Bugsy - he doesn't bark though he just starts running around the house looking for the visitor - I mean they might bring a dog!

LOL everytime you go to open a can B thinks its for him, mind you I rarely - very rarely - feed canned tripe.  Other times he gets canned salmon or tuna but it is infrequent.  Never mind when the can opener comes out you can guarantee a big black nose is suddenly pushing at your arm or dangerously close to the opening can

That's funny.  Max doesn't bark at the doorbell or a knock, but he goes and stands there with his nose against the door waiting for someone to open it.  Sometimes that's the only way I know someone is on the porch.

Ya that's my dogs too, most of the time.  Crusher sits in front of the door staring intently out the window of it and Onyx stands on her hind legs(she's really good at this) and peaks out.  The window starts at about waist high so she's not tall enough unless she stands up to see much of anything.  But they don't bark.  I wait for the knock and then I go answer the door, half of the people that come here, don't knock.  But the Gas guy didn't knock.  He just stood there.  He deserved a bark.  Those guys drive me nuts anyway.  They make it seem like you have to sign up or bad things will happen and they come here 25 times a year.  They push their way into your house too, like the Witness's.  I don't sit my dogs for them.  I trap them in the porch and give my dogs free run until they agree to go away.  Hehe, they're big, I'm pregnant, I can't control my dogs sir...lol, all I have to do is tell them to sit and they do, but he doesn't know that....I'm so tricky.

So...what is she reading at the moment?

The Domino's ad doorbell gets us every time!  It must have a different tone or something.  Morrison only gets going if Monroe does so if the tv goes Bing Bong Morrison gets alert and watches Monroe.  If Monroe starts running around and barking so does Morrison - it's pretty cute to watch!

a suspense thriller? you know the kind that makes you jump because you're soooo into your reading? happens to me all the time.

and since someone mentioned Domino's..... she probably heard the commercial guy say "Get the door! its Domino's!" so she came running into the room thinking "PIZZAAA!! PIZZA MOM!!! PIZZA!!! ... mom? pizza? aw nuts....."

    • Gold Top Dog

TRUST ME....NOBODY GETS EXCITED ABOUT DOMINOES AROUND HERE!
