So, does anyone else have a dog that barks at the doorbell on the TV? This is not a new concept to me. I've seen plenty of dogs fooled into this mockery. My cousins dog Boston, who was a great alert dog would woof every time he heard the door bell or a knock at the door, but he could be fooled by a well timed knock on the coffee table or the doorbell on the TV. My cousin was merciless with this trick.
BUT...my sweet, innocent, albeit somewhat stupid Onyx, doesn't bark in the house. She's not allowed and she knows it. She did once, not too long ago have to work up to a good FOOF because some guy came into the porch and stood there looking at my dogs on the other side of the door. No knock, nothing.(really annoying sign-up for gas supplier guy) But on a whole, no, she doesn't bark in the house.
Last night though something overtook her. Tyler and I were watching some really bad spoof of B-rated horror flicks(had Bruce Willis and Fergie in it...anyway) and at some point, whether during the actual movie, or during a commercial, I'm not sure which now, there was a doorbell. Ding Dong! And, Ding Dong came running, Hawuffff....Hawuuuffffff....HaWUFFFFFFFFFFF! I just laughed at her. "Onyx you moron! Its the TV!" She looked at me for a second, then calmed down and went back to her book.
It wasn't until sometime later that a thought occurred to me. We don't have a doorbell. Nor have we ever had one in her entire life. Why would she bark at a doorbell?
