Tracking changes in Word - need help

*frustration*

I'm trying to edit a document by tracking changes in Word and my computer is acting SO SLOW! Seriously, it just took me 3 minutes to save and every time I add a comment there is a 1 minute delay. I rebooted, removed the watermark, saved the document from our network on to my computer and nothing is helping.

Nothing else is working slowly - just word.

Oh and the document is only 257 KB

Any ideas?

Are you sure you're editing the one on your computer? And not the one on the network?

Do you have any other apps open?

Are other Word documents acting the same?

Positive that I was not using the network

I closed all apps

It's word in general that's acting funky

Of course, I closed word down for a while and just re-opened and now it's acting fine. Maybe there was some background program running that I didn't see.

Not sure I can help you. We have a word doc (our transaction manual) that is very big. There used to be a lot of tables and such in it and when we made a change it would not save fast at all. My supervisor removed a bunch of that stuff and it is much better now. Are there things like that in there?

I also move stuff off our server to my desktop, work on it and then put it back. Sometimes still on the server slows down the process.

Maybe it locked up saving a temp. copy?
