    Mindless Chatter - Monday

Here we go again. I have a super busy week ahead of me and my counter part is not here today to help!! grr. He was supposed to be back today (was out last week)

My carpet is nice and fluffy clean! wohoo, I love fluffy clean carpet. Of course, it doesn't last but a day. I had the dogs outside this morning while I was in the shower, then went to let them in and they were covered in dirt. They must have been digging somewhere. They have this habit of burying a bone, then the other goes and digs it up and buries it somewhere else, rinse repeat. It's comical but makes a mess of my lawn!

I took my 3 dogs to my friends house with the doggy paradise in the back yard. There was another friend there with her 3 dogs plus my friends dogs and fosters (about 8 dogs). I felt like I was at Cesar Melans (sp?) doggy center. They all had fun though. Dakota loves it over there. She goes right in the doggy door and makes herself at home and doesn't want to leave. That's a good thing because they are staying there for 4 days when I go to IL in May.

Two of the foster dogs came from really bad situations and are afraid of people. For the last 6 months these 2 dogs would not come near me (and one would bark the entire time I was there)....they'd follow me with the other dogs but they would stay at least 25 feet away and never really look at me (they are like this with all people). Well last night we had a break through. The shyest one of the bunch actually came up and sniffed me when I was sitting on the ground petting dogs. I couldn't believe it. He's never gotten that close before. I just sat there and let him sniff...didn't try to pet him or anything. The other dog now only barks once at me when I come over and last night he was actually playing fetch with me. So, they are coming along! Poor dogs. People can really be cruel.

     MONDAY MOANIN' Sad

I have a lot of work to do today. It is our month end and I am out part of the day tomorrow for some training thing. At least I don't have to be up as early tomorrow.

I broke my toe yesterday. It really hurts especially to wear a shoe. I can walk barefoot because it is my little toe and it doesn't take the pressure of walking, but with a shoe on yikes. I know there is not much any one can do. I plan to call my doctor today. I was once told that broken toes are the leading cause of gangrene because no one gets them checked. I obviously broke blood vessels because of all the pretty colors. Stick out tongue  So I need to have it checked out I guess. Darling DH in all his compassion says to me "guess I will be running Belle in agility class tonight!". I told him it looks promising but I will yell at him if he doesn't run her well! He may be walking the dogs all week and running Teddi on Thursday too. Until the soreness is gone I can't do a whole lot.

I set some agility stuff up in our back yard over the weekend, spring is here!

I was in Chicago all weekend photographing a wedding.  I dunno if this was from lack of sleep and/or staring at a camera and computer screen all weekend, but the strangest thing happened to my eye.  I thought I was having a seizure, which is ironic since DH had seizures and takes enough anticonvulsants to sedate a horse.   Anyway, I was sitting at my computer editing photos when I realized I couldn't see my right hand on the touch pad.  Then I realized I had NO peripheral vision in my right eye at all.  I looked away from the screen for a while but it didn't help.  I took out my contact and rinsed it....still didn't help.  It was like all of my peripheral vision and a slice of my vision in the center went from clear to being a jumble of waves.  It was there - not like blacked out - but all ripply and static. I don't know if it was my headache, congestion, or what.  I took a handful of ibuprofen (already had a bad headache anyway), some sudafed, drank a mt. dew and a Starbuck's hot chocolate and eventually it went away.  I tried to explain it to DH and told him I'd just draw what it was like:

Its sounds like an Aura Migraine.  I hand one at work and it was really wierd.  I got the Auras before I got any headache pain and the best I could explain it was that I felt I was in a tunnel with pretty colours around the outside.  LOL.  Pretty lame description, but you pic is pretty close, only mine was on both sides.  I told my doctor the next time I saw her(I was pregnant and going regularly) and she did a neurological test of sorts where she checked my reactions to a bunch of stuff, made me grit my teeth together, follow the pen, that kind of stuff, but I was ok.  She said just to let her know if it ever happened again.

Julie, I want a doggy paradise backyard.  How do you go about making one?

I had something like that happen to me. I was in Fred Meyer and all of a sudden everything got really blurry . I could see but not well. It lasted about an hour. Very scary.

Let me see if I can do it justice without pics....

It begins with a dog door at the house, with a doggy ramp leading to a gravel rock area. The gravel rock area has 2 gates, one which leads to a nice grassy area which is adjacent to an agility course (covered in wood chips) and a big doggy swimming pool. The other gate leads to a dog run type area, also covered in wood chips, which then leads to yet another gate. You go through that gate and walk down a path (wood chips again) to a big wide open woodsy area with a trail that goes around the outside perimeter of the fence. There's an underground tunnel that the dogs race and chase each other through, there's ramps and trees and piles of stuff that the dogs run, jump and race over. There's an open space for frisbee and ball tossing and lots of places for humans to sit (tree stumps, lounge chairs, etc). They just have a blast there.

The best part is that you can open/close parts of the lot with all of the gates. That way you can separate dogs if you have to, or keep them confined to one area if you can't watch them or need them to come in, etc.

    Interesting.

It could have been a migraine.  I got very little sleep both nights b/c I slept on a couch and with a dozen other adults in a tiny house and baby, people were constantly making noise and waking me up, plus the lights went out at midnight but people were getting up at 5am.  Then I got really congested which often happens when I change environments.  I'm sure spending hours re-touching pics on the computer screen did not help either.

I just Googled it and it must be it:

Most often, a migraine with aura is characterized by visual disturbances such as flashes of light, zigzagging patterns or even blind spots. However, a migraine with aura may also be accompanied by other sensations, such as numbness or tingling in parts of your body, and speech problems.

That's EXACTLY what it was!  Bright zig-zagging patterns and I felt like I had no control over my right hand and arm.  It may have been tingling too, I thought it was b/c I couldn't see it.  It almost made me want to panic.  One second I was using my right hand to fix a picture and then all the sudden I had to switch hands b/c it was like I couldn't control my right hand anymore.

It's weird though b/c I didn't get a terrible migraine like I sometimes do.  Maybe all the pills I took caught it fast enough.  I also drank a bunch of caffeine (the soda and Starbucks) to kick it in.

A minor crisis was averted this morning. I have a project that I have been working on, and it is finally almost done. However, this morning, my laptop would not turn on. My dad saved the day by swapping the hard drive to another laptop, so that I have my file, and the other one can go to get repaired.

The headache I got when I had mine wasn't anything worse than a regular headache.  I've never had a migraine before, but I've seen people get them and they certainly appear to be worse than what I had.  Hmm...I lied, I had one when I was still in highschool, I remember being really really sensitive to sound and light and movement.  But even that wasn't as bad as some I think.  But no, the aura migraine wasn't a killer, it was there, just not at what I imagine a migraine to be.

One of the ladies I work with gets those aura migraines.  She doesn't usually get a bad headache just her vision slowly goes until she can't see right out of one eye.  They usually don't last long for her.

I knew I was right about Willow's food.  I gave her some potato over the weekend and today perfect poop.  I knew she needed fiber.

Julie--I looked at the Iams yesterday at Petsmart.  And, she won't be able to try that one because of the chicken. But, it's definately something that I think would work with the beet pulp in it.

It's raining today and I was supposed to be off but I'm going to work.  I'm gonna take Thursday off and Mike and I are going to see the Red Sox at Fenway, YAY!!

    Have a great day!

I'm so pumped!  Kenya's breeder is starting a SchH club.  Granted, it's a 1.5 hr drive each way, but hardly anyone drives less for their SchH clubs.  I can't wait!  Now, I just need a proper DOG!

So - I started my day with an automated call from Providian Bank (they hold my WaMu card) questioning recent activity.  I haven't used the card for probably close to two years.  Anyway, someone gave $700 to something called Press Republican - using my card number - and how they got the number I don't know since I haven't used the card anywhere.  I was on hold for over 20 minutes and had to hang up to drive DGS to school.  After I got back I called them and I can get just so far before I get the "Sorry this call cannot be completed.  Please try again later" crap. I guess I'll try to find a branch somewhere.  There's probably one in Sacramento. It's actually kind of laughable since 1) I'd never give any money to Republican anything, 2) If I do make a political donation, it's more like $25 - maybe $50 if it's someone I know personally that's running for something and 3) I'd never put a donation on a credit card.  I'd use a debit card and pay for it. Wish me luck!  This is so not how I planned to spend the day.  Think Lowes - new yard furniture cushions - a few plants, etc. Crying

Today is my day to relax, no dogs here that I''m watching for anyone, no dogs to walk, no work...woohoo! I've been wanting a day like this for a few months now and finally. I don't feel too great either though, but since I seem to have acquired a pretty hefty clothing collection with clothes stacked, thrown, folded in drawers and hanging in three different rooms of the house I figured what a great day to go through and see what I am going to donate, sell on ebay and keep. Plus its raining so the dogs just want to lay around...

I had the best night EVER yesterday. BF took my to my first county fair! We spent an entire week's worth of grocery money in one night (guess we're having cereal this week :) ) but I had SO MUCH FUN. I rode every singe ride, and I had funnel cake, cotton candy, and a caramel apple. And a sweet tea and a bite of BF's chicken on a stick. We saw COWS (they're so huge in real life!) and sheepies and poultry and weird people and I had SO MUCH FUN. BF almost won me a big stuffed bear but some lady beat him out. It was SO MUCH FUN.

    I'll PM you Dakota's BF's piccie Jewlieeeee.

And I think it was Huskymom I forgot to pick up to go the the beach yesterday? Sorry 'bout that. :) :) :)

I'm going through my closet too! I'm going to do BF's clothes first since he's not home. He can't insist that we save clothing he's had since high school.

Glad you had such a great time.  Sometimes you just have to say "the heck with the groceries" and go do something that's major fun. Put a little chocolate or strawberry milk on your cereal to break the monotony. Wink
