really need some good vibes!! (janetmichel3009)

so since i am living here in china, i do require a visa, and i've been having issues getting a work visa since quite a while now. first, since i was working with my mentor, i had no chance of getting a work visa, because he had no officially registered business here. so i was here mostly on business and tourist visas. then i started working at my current company, and was about to apply for a work visa around christmas, went to germany (you have to leave the country to apply for a work visa) but, learned my passsport has to be valid for at least one year. mine was about to expire in 10 months. so i applied for a tourist visa, came back, got a new passport and end of last month i went to germany AGAIN to apply for my work visa. normally they would issue you a 30-day work visa which you then extend to a 1-year-work visa after entering the country. well what they gave me instead is a 30-day business visa, saying it will work the same way. i came back, just to learn i CANNOT change this to a work visa. they messed up. so i've been talking to the authorities here, and had horrible luck, in that the person handling my case, is a *** (you know what). she has been avoiding my BF's calls (he is handling this for me, since he is very good at dealing with these type of situations.) he has talked to about 4-5 other people in her office (including a very nice lady, who is from a totallu different department) and today, we finally reached her and she says she will give us a solutiuon tomorrow.

now this of course isnt a yes, and we are just hoping that she will not retaliate, because at this point she feels "attacked" because we have been talking to her coworkers and her boss. not, that we had a choice, we couldnt reach her for 2 weeks straight...

anyways, if this doesnt go through, i dont know what i am supposed to do. i am not technically allowed to work on my current visa (i am working anyways, under the radar, so to speak) and it is expiring next week anyways. with the olympics coming up and regulations being rediculously strict (received an article today: chinese ambassador (malaysia, i think) is telling people to avoid the olympics.. lol) i could very well get deported...

so if you have some prayers or good vibes left after sending some to glenmar, i'd really appreciate it....

    thanks!!

Good luck. It sounds like she's putting you off yet again. Hopefully you'll get it worked out asap.

The thing about good vibes?  The more you send the more you have, so sending plenty your way.

The supply of good vibes is unlimited!  Sending lots your way....

As a green card holder in the states, I totally understand how you feel.  Ya know that movie Green Card???  US Immigration CAN be like that, especially when you are scared stiff of them.  I'm glad your BF is comfortable talking to them for you.

yeah well. it would probably be so much easier, if it was the US. but here in China! ARGH!!!!!

my BF is calling the woman right now, and no response so far. it seems that she is avoiding him again. we'll try a few more times and if there's still no response, we call her boss again... i'm so all over the place....

before it was just weird and annoying, but ya know... still made for a good story. now it's serious!

YAY!!! thanks a lot guys! i tried to post yesterday when i came back, but the internet was messing me up!

i did it! i applied for a visa, they took all my documents and gave me the "yellow paper". which pretty much means i'm in the green. the worst that can happen, is they call me back, cause my health certificate actually expired in all the time we needed to work this out. in that case i will just go get another one. it just means i have to pay another 600RMB (~75$US) again to get the health check done, but at this point i dont really mind...

after this i still have some paper work to do. i will have to take this issued 2 month visa to the labor department, get my permanent work permit and THEN go back to get a one-year visa. but that is really just paperwork and some running around. no worries there. and then after that, all i have to do is extend my visa and work permit yearly! this really was the crucial part! i am SO relieved.

thank you guys so much!!! WOHOO!!
