Need help on questions quick

I found a good breeder to get a pup from and if someone backs out on the list I will get a call and can get one of the pups but I have also been checking petfinder everyday and today there is a dog in a different state 5 hours away from me at a shelter to be adopted. They have no online adoption papers to fill out so I want to call them on Friday. This is a Humane Society shelter not a Lhasa rescue. So where do I go from here????? What do I ask? I would like to make only one trip to go get the dog if approved with Molly of course to see if Molly and the dog get along. So ????? Any help would be great.

Ask them for any and all background information. See if they can fax you her medical records so you can personally look them over. Explain that you have been looking for another dog for a long time -and you just want to make sure she's the best fit.

Ask if she has played with other dogs during her stay, and why exactly she was surrendered. How she reacts to handling and how she was getting her shots and such.

Ask as many questions as you need to, and also see if they have a hold policy and would be able to hold her until you could drive over there. See if they could even take a deposit over the phone of some sort.

I just got off the phone (they are open until 8:00 pm on Fridays) with the shelter and Bella went to her new home today. The people that got her paid a deposit to put a hold on her until they could go pick her up. I saw her for the first time last night on petfinder (and I check everyday) so I thought she was just brought into the shelter. The lady said she was brought in 3 days ago so it didn`t take long for her to be adopted out. I did get some info from the shelter just in case they get another Lhasa in. She also gave me their web site as not all the dogs that they have are put on petfinder. Give a deposit over the phone to put the dog on hold. That would give me 48 hours to get my poop in a group and drive over there. You also can take the dog home with you the same day so that would only be one trip.

Anyone that wants to see her picture better hurry as she said she will be removed from the petfinders list asap.

I want to add that Bella was brought into the shelter on 4-22 deposit was made on her on 4-23 and she went home on 4-25. Things moved fast here. She was surrendered because of house soiling.

Keep looking every day! Don't give up! Are there shelters you can visit in person a couple times a week? I lost a couple dogs before I found Ole, so I know just what you are going through. And I'm glad that I got Ole, instead of one of the other dogs, because Ole is just PERFECT for me and Sofie! I think there is a certain amount of "meant to be" stuff that happens, you know?
