I'm moving back to my hometown, which is a small salt town on the east coast of FL. One of the things our town lacks is a compounding pharmacy. Pirate's potassium bromide comes from a local compounding pharmacy in a suburb of Orlando, about 20 minutes from where we live now, but when we move next month, it will be over an hour (and 100 miles, round trip) to pick up his meds once a month.
Dr.'s Foster and Smith's website (Thanks Janet_Rose! I didn't know they were a compounding pharmacy!) can fill the prescription for $4 a bottle. Somehow, this doesn't seem right. From the pharmacy it's $45. Even with shipping I'd save a boatload of money, but...I don't know how comfortable I feel with shipping something so important (potassium bromide is what Pi takes in place of phenobarb, for his epilepsy.)
Has anyone had any experience with an online pharmacy? I'll have to talk it over with my vet anyway, since she'd have to release the prescription, but I wanted to see if there were any personal experiences.
