If you can't find an instructor, a good option to lessons is a local tracking club. The one near here sponsors a Tracking Experience Day every spring. It's an all day workshop kind of thing- "classroom" time in the morning where they go over laying tracks, how scent "travels", etc and a demo by a trained team. Then, after lunch, it's hands on with your dog. They supply a manual, etc, and a list of club members for support. They then have two follow-ups spread out over the next 2-3 months.
