I feel like a rock star this week, in the Grey's Anatomy way of using it.
Tuesday, while I was being observed, the comment made about me included something about paying a lot of money for someone as good as I am. It was in a figurative sense, because neither of the people watching me control my pay at all. I'm contracted at a set rate that hasn't changed in the over 2.5 years I've had the contract with the school district.
Last week, another parent told me that if I am staying for the next year, I should send him a letter letting him know that I am raising my rate. Umm.. ok. I would have never done it if not told to, but I won't say no if he tells me to. Today he told me to raise the rate by 25%. He also told me some awesomely nice things, and had me about ready to cry.
Third, I volunteer at a group on Thursdays, and have said I wasn't going to apply for a job at the company where it is held. I decided I would though, because the other week, a parent asked me specifically to do it to work with her daughter. I had to get letters of recommendation for it, and got a letter that was way more beautiful than I could have ever asked for. I also got called back about the job about 2 hours after I interviewed.
Right now though, Max is barking his brains out at a cat that has taken up residence on our back porch. I thought I was gonna let him bark until he exhausted himself, but seeing as that may be a while, I think I'm going to have to step in and stop him soon.
