Earthquake anyone?

    Earthquake anyone?

Tornadoes yes. Earthquakes no. Not in Kentucky!! But this morning I woke up to the house shaking. Turn on the tv to the local news channel and sure enough we had an earthquake. Anyone else feel it?

I heard about it on the radio this AM. I guess it was centered around southern IL. Someone here it MI near Detroit said they felt it. I wondered if Maxine did. She came in the bathroom this AM, which she RARELY does unless there are T-storms in the area. I noted the time because the radio station I was listening too started a contest and mentioned the time. It was 5:45 and they said it hit around 4:41 Central time. Don't know for sure since Max can't talk.

I was in the shower about the time it happened, and i didn't notice. When i got to work @ 7, everyone in the hospital was talking about it and said they felt it. Wish i could've! That would've been pretty neat!

Kord woke me at 5:30am insisting that he had to pee, so I got up to let him out, when he was done he was clingy and actually got up on the bed instead of heading back into his crate, I was just about to lay back down when the house started to "grumble".

I say grumble, cause it's old, someone with their base to high going down the street makes my window rattles and what not, I actually got back out of bed and looked out to see if it was a storm, cause it had that "thunder rolling over land" feel to it.

Over all it was neat, but not my first :)

Me! Me! Me!  First one.  Big Smile

I thought a dog was under the bed scratching and hitting the bed while doing it.  But all the dogs were on the dog beds and not under ours.  Then I wondered if it was the quarry blasting away (because that's what it feels like only the blasts last milliseconds and this lasted seconds) but then was like, no it's too early in the morning.  Then, earthquake?  Hmmm....

Oh and I'm in Bloomington, IN.

Maybe that's why Dakota kept waking me up to go outside! Actually it probably had more to do with her upset stomach than an earthquake but you never know!

This is a cool site.  The size of the squares denotes intensity of the earthquake.  Look at the one in IL compared to CA and AL.

My BIL in Chicagoland area said he felt it.  I asked DH and he said he felt something, but wasn't sure what it was (we are in Milwaukee).  Me, I could sleep through anything so I didn't feel a thing.  I was in a couple before, the one I felt the most was in Detroit Michigan about 10 years ago.

I very much felt it (I'm in So. IL).  What a surprise!  For a bit I thought it was the New Madrid fault and we were going to be in for a very big ride, but we lucked out.  Very little damage, just a whole lotta excitement.

I've woken up around 4:45am for the past couple nights and did so last night but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.  I didn't hear the dog or anything.

A friend's husband woke up and said he was dreaming about an earthquake, and a coworker's two year old woke up screaming when the quake hit.  FREAKY!  I live in the Northwest Chicago suburbs.  Apparently my household is decidedly OUT OF TUNE with the earth!

My parents felt it!  They're in Bloomington, IN as well. :)

There was another one!  4.5 according to USGS.  It felt like a huge gust of wind on our 3rd floor.  We used to be on the 7th.  ;)

Thanks for the link,  I am in N.W. Arkansas, I received a weather alert on my pager this morning around 4:48 said aftershocks might be felt in IN, AR, KY.    Now, I didnt feel anything but I get up everymorning around this same time give or take a few minutes.  Rocky will usually jump on my lap or sit by my chair if I am not up by 5:00 when the alarm goes off.   This morning completly out of character, he was bumping my chair and scratching at the floor around 4:30, I just thought he got up early and lost a toy under the chair.  I dozed back off but he didnt, when I got up there was nothing under my chair.   He was very rowdy this morning and kept barking, a habit I thought we had broken.   Maybe he was trying to tell me something after all!

My husband who slept through the 1st one, told me about the second one. I left a note this morning (not something I normally do) that asked him to call me when he got up. Well he called me and I was explaining what happened this morning, he said so that's what that was, and explained that not to long before he felt the house shaking.

Hehe, wild cougars in Chicago, earthquakes in Kentucky(and various other weird locations), I am afraid to ask "what's next?"
