Well, I'm new here, haven't even lurked very much. I have belonged to an online horse community for a long time, and now I am branching out. My husband and I have 3 dogs right now. I have a 9 yo female Rottweiler who lives in the house with us. SHe has arthritis pretty badly in her front leg, and we almost lost her this winter, but she has ralled back and I am cherishing every day I get to have her here still. We also have a german wire-haired pointer who is 8 yo,a female also. She doesn't hunt. We also have about a 50 lb 7 yo female who we found as a 4 month old puppy along the road, and she is a mix of some chow, shepard, something really hairy, and something small. heinz 57. Those two have the run of the basement, but they don't live in the house per se. We have a fenced in yard, about 2 acres, with the back fenced separately to be able to have everyone out together. The rottie doesn't get along with the pointer and to keep the peace we keep them apart.
Right now I work and go to school, and the dogs don't get near the attention from me that they deserve. I hope to remedy that when I graduate in about 6 weeks. The vet doesn't expect Kota, the rottie to be with us too much longer due to her arthritis getting worse. I hope she is here a good long time yet, though. I would like to start working some on obedience with the other two, who have lately been left to their own devices for the most part when it comes to obedience. When I do get another dog in the house, I don't want to have to keep anyone separated. I would like also to get some guinea hens in the future if that ever seems like a feasible expectation with the dogs I already have.
I hope to get to spend some time here when I am at work. I am in the process of looking for a replacement for my broken laptop, so at work is the only time I have to get on the computer for now. Look forward to getting to now you all, and learning and sharing some information with everyone. Julie
