    They've Peed! :-) (Kim_Mac)

Okay, so normally that isn't such a big deal. But I finally finished moving in to my new place last night, and Gaci just had her first pee this afternoon. Shimmer just had hers about 1/2 hour ago after supper. Still no #2's yet, but I'm sure they'll come with time. I was starting to wonder if they were going to burst, but I was assured that they'd go when they felt comfortable. Going from a huge fenced backyard with freedom, to a small little grassy spot on a leash is a culture shock for sure.

But the girls are settling in pretty nicely. A little on edge, a little nervous, but thankfully not that barky. A few barks outside, but I'm not to worried about that. Gaci is actually taking it better than Shimmer thus far, which is surprising since Gaci is the normally anxious one with stranger fears! But when the internet/phone guys came today they never even let out as much as a peep, even with the talking and the banging around in the living room.

It's interesting, we live next door to two really unfriendly-looking Pitties, next door to a huge but sweet Mastiff/Rottie/Pitty looking mix, and across the street from a medium sized fluffy black dog. So we're definitely in the "dog realm" now, as opposed to country living!

Good luck in the new place, and I'm sure the dogs will settle in quickly. It's amazing how little things can make us so happy. :)

Hooray! They'll settle in in no time.

We're moving this weekend, but the pets aren't moving in until the 3rd. I can't wait! Penny will just be glad to be with me. Bonnie will be fine as long as she has her hutch and some company. Kit will be the hard one, but with Penny there and me there and Bonnie there he might just settle in nice and quick. Every time I go home to visit he watches me and comes over, but won't let me pat him much lately. He needs a bit of time to jog his memory of me.

Penny adapted really well when I first moved her from a large block to a very small city block, but you should have seen her when we moved to a place with a large yard a year later. She suddenly became an outdoor dog again and spent her time romping in the grass and shunning her kennel. We still have to get that pool fenced before she comes to live with us!

Woohoo! We had two full eliminations this morning, so we're on the right track. I'd say they've finally got used to going on a leash, and aren't too "offended" at their lack of privacy! ;-)

They are getting the hang of this "several walks per day" thing, and I've been taking different routes with them to find some nice places to go within short walking distance. There is a school I can use in the evening, and a nice little park a few blocks away (it's where most of the dogs go, since it's right in the city center - there were three Dals there this morning), and there's a large park within a 20 minute walk, which is great when I want to take them somewhere and put them on their long lines. They got me up at 7:45 this morning, though, which isn't their usual...lol. But my bedroom is a lot brighter in the morning than my old one was, so they think it's time to get up!

Congrats on the move!  When I got Kenya it took 2 days for a pee and 4 days for a poop!
