    "Showdog Moms & Dads"

Anybody else catch this show last night after the premier of "Groomer Has It"?

I thought it was pretty interesting....kind of showed what showdog parents go through. Honestly, I could not believe the cost of the shows! One couple had 2 Whippets, and they entered them both and it was something like $700 and they only earned 1 point. I loved the Weimaraner, what a talented dog.

LOL I saw this when it first aired, years ago on Bravo I think it was. They looked for the most eccentric folks they could I think...and it's not representitve of the rest of us, for sure...but that's TV.

If you are watching the show I won't spoil it for you...but there is some funny stuff in there as it goes along....esp with the man couple and the judge/exhibitor.

I caught the very last episode last year on bravo. I am glad that it is on Animal Planet. I really wanted to see more of it. I am in love with the whippets now. I had to find out more about the breed online after the show.

I haven't seen it before so I'll be watching regularly.  Shoot, Animal Planet is on here all weekend when I'm parked on the couch doing homework.  I haven't seen what happens to the Weim yet but that's always a big fear of mine, that one of the dogs will get hurt and I'll be out all by myself.  I need to get a backpack to carry with me on our walks to the lake so I can carry everything (cell phone, long line, water bottle, etc.) because I'm always afraid I'll need help and don't have my cell.  I've also gotten paranoid about checking the water (as much as I can) for signs of broken bottles before I let the dogs wander in to splash around.

The GSD lady almost made me cry, it might seem crazy to some but the role a dog can play during a bad time is really indescribable.  My dog Rush really saved me in the early days of my divorce.  Without him, I really think I might have lost it completely.

The man couple are very eccentric and very funny. But, they SPOIL those dogs!

Hi this is rosered66 and I have to agree with you about the show its addicting. Some people did not agree with each others training or dressing of the chihuahuas. But I loved it. Kojo is so adorable, I also own a chihuahua his name is Chico and I love him to death. I took him away from my sister who was mistreating him by not feeding him or she would go to work and leave him in the car. So I took him away from her and now she hates me but that's ok because I saved him from certain death since he barely weighed 2 pounds when I got him.

That show cracks me up, the people on it are so crazy!  I think all the dogs are lovely though, and it's an amusing look at what show life can be for some people.  My husband's eyes bugged out of his head when he realized that they were trying to collect...baby-making materials...from the GSD, though. Stick out tongue

There's a couple things on the show that are absolutely INFURIATING- like the woman with the fake service dog. UGH.

You are talking about the wein right?  That one when round and round some e-mail lists when it first came out.  If you look carefully you notice that the dog wasn't wearing a service dog vest but a companion dog vest and was flying under the celebrity dog rules that some airlines have and not the service dog rules.

I kept going "buh?" last night. I watched bits and pieces of the series when it aired on Bravo, but I'll be interested to see it, now that I know more about dogs and dog showing. The people are a bit... insane, LOL, but aren't we all?

I want to know how to get celebrity dog status. I'd *love* to be able to walk Miss Fatty Pants through the airport instead of carrying her or putting her on a stroller. I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE for her to have a seat. A seat! To herself! She'd sit on my lap the whole time, but that's ok.

One thing I heard about that is that you have to pay for another ticket and it has to be a full fare ticket.  No discounts.  So that is a pretty expensive way for your pup to ride.

What about walking through the airport? The tag they fastened to my carrier states very clearly that the dog MUST remain inside of the securely fastened carrier in all terminals, and during the flight. It was pretty crazy to watch her walking her dog around, flying with it on the seat.

We've only flown once, and it was a last-minute thing. I didn't have time for details. Now, I'm all nosey and stuff.

Not only that, but she TOLD people it was a service dog- regardless of what the patches said!

There was a basenji on my flight home from Portland that was either the world's worst-trained service dog who just happens to travel with a pro handler (the dog did not know how to sit or down on command, completely unacceptable) or a faker. It *might* have been an ESA, except for the fact that the lady TOLD people it was an SD.....
