I guess I'd just like to see them be a bit more equitable in making cuts. Instead of forcing school districts to lay off half their teachers, they could have each district lay off a couple of teachers - and have each city lay off a couple of police/firemen, cut a smaller amount out of medicare, check out all the roads scheduled for re-paving and find one or two that could wait another year. I know. I'm dreaming. Ain't gonna happen in this lifetime - not with our governor anyway. Joyce
I agree with spreading the pain. That's the way small towns around here deal with budget issues. I love old-style town meetings:
"Folks, we have to replace wells #6-8, and that's gonna cost us a bundle. I know we had a new plow truck on the warrant list this year, but Joe has a plan to get an extra year or two out of the 83 GMC plow truck--Joe, tell us the plan." LOL Then we vote on whether we want to buy the plow truck or use Joe's plan and try to nurse the old truck along.
Maybe California is too big---and if it became several small states then your legislators would represent fewer people and feel more accountable.
There, problem solved---now we just need to explain to the Governator that Cali needs to be divided. ROFL
