Which 3V Caps do we need, can't figure out...

I was looking to order the 3V caps for my 6 lb. Pomeranian, and I can't seem to figure out which ones I need, the description is not clear. I think the 3V Caps HP SNIP TIPS for SMALLER DOGS & CATS (60 Caps, 787.5 mg/capsule) should work, but they also have the 3V Caps Skin Formula for Small DOG & CATS (60 caps)? So which ones do we need, since he is really tiny. Also is it a good idea to give the 3V caps, since from what I understood it contains the Cod Liver oil in it. Other than that it is balanced (fish oil, and Vit. E vise) or maybe the Derm Caps are better? Here is the link for the full list of the 3V Caps list, I just don't know how to make it a link, so if you'll copy and paste it, you'll see it ===>>> http://www.entirelypets.com/3vcaps.html?__utma=1.526754251.1206894766.1206894766.1207862858.2&

He has skin allergies, so thats why I wanted to get the 3V Caps because they claim to help the dogs with allergies. ( I used to give Derm Caps to both of my Pomeranians, and the other one was getting high urine Ph while on it, because the food also contains the Vit E supplement it it, and he's very sensitive to the over supplementation, so now I want to give it to just the one with allergies, as per my Derm Vet advice, she just didn't specify which exact ones to give). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ya no ... my holistic vet says skip the pet stuff and use the best quality Omega 3's you can get your hands on -- she's been really unhappy because she's tried so many different brands (and even *human stuff*) and most of it is RANCID in the caps.  And that brings a whole new 'problem' into the deal.

She carries NOW Brand Omega 3's -- the 1000 mg.  And rather than trying to split the caps just give it every 3rd day or so (which is what I do with Ms. Kee).  You can *** the caps if you'd rather and just squeeze a few drops in their supper each day (like you have 3 dogs?? Make one cap do all 3 dogs?) and if you can keep track of it let Dog A actually have the capsule today, B tomorrow and C on Saturday??  So there's no waste of that last couple of drops but it all equals out.  Even 500 mg a day would be fine but 333 would be also.

Vit E is usually in there simply to preserve it (the amount of E is usually negligible) and the Omega 6's (the cod liver oil) aren't nearly as helpful as the Omega 3's.  But that's what she has me do anyway.

If you go to http://www.nowfoods.com/ they have a locator that will tell you the nearest health store that carries their stuff.

The other one I've used that I like a lot is KAL brand -- again, you find that at the better health stores, but it too is a really good quality one and you won't get spoiled Omega 3's.

Occasionally give them "real" Omega 3's -- like I give mine sardines at least once a week.  It doesn't have to be expensive sardines -- but do get the ones either in Olive oil or packed in water.

OOps, now that I re-read you have two (sorry -- how'd I have you with three dogs???) -- But if you get those little tiny Glad containers with the lid you can *** a gelcap, squirt on a few drops and then store the opened capsule in the little container.

Count the number of 'drops' in one capsule and you'll be able to arrive at what works for your lil one.

Thanks for the reply Callie. Which one exactly of the Now Foods caps are you using (maybe you can link me to it), I would just orderer it on line, I've ordered from them before. I would like it to already have the Vit E in it, so that I won't mess up the balancing out thingy. And yes, I only have two dogs, my husband won't allow me the third one for now. My second Pom didn't do well with the additional Vit E added to his diet, hes very sensitive to over supplementation His food already has the Vit E in it. So it's only for the allergic little one, but I don't care if I'll use the cap partially, just want to make sure I'll get the correct dosage, which I'm not really sure how much he needs, since he is only 6 lb.

The Vitamin E is added to the pet brand Omega stuff because it's needed by the body to help absorption of the Omega's.  If your dog already has extra Vitamin E in his food, you probably don't need it.  However if the food does not have extra, then you actually do need the Vit E.

I use the 3V Caps and get the snip tips.  However, I ordered mine online the last time and thought I was getting a smaller capsule than what we had because I wanted a smaller dose for my smallest dog (20lbs) and they are exactly the same.  So I'm not really keen on buying online anymore, actually.
