Ya no ... my holistic vet says skip the pet stuff and use the best quality Omega 3's you can get your hands on -- she's been really unhappy because she's tried so many different brands (and even *human stuff*) and most of it is RANCID in the caps. And that brings a whole new 'problem' into the deal.
She carries NOW Brand Omega 3's -- the 1000 mg. And rather than trying to split the caps just give it every 3rd day or so (which is what I do with Ms. Kee). You can *** the caps if you'd rather and just squeeze a few drops in their supper each day (like you have 3 dogs?? Make one cap do all 3 dogs?) and if you can keep track of it let Dog A actually have the capsule today, B tomorrow and C on Saturday?? So there's no waste of that last couple of drops but it all equals out. Even 500 mg a day would be fine but 333 would be also.
Vit E is usually in there simply to preserve it (the amount of E is usually negligible) and the Omega 6's (the cod liver oil) aren't nearly as helpful as the Omega 3's. But that's what she has me do anyway.
If you go to http://www.nowfoods.com/ they have a locator that will tell you the nearest health store that carries their stuff.
The other one I've used that I like a lot is KAL brand -- again, you find that at the better health stores, but it too is a really good quality one and you won't get spoiled Omega 3's.
Occasionally give them "real" Omega 3's -- like I give mine sardines at least once a week. It doesn't have to be expensive sardines -- but do get the ones either in Olive oil or packed in water.
