Mindless Chatter - sunday

    Mindless Chatter - sunday

It's official, I have a cold *sniff*  The nicest 2 days in a long time and all I want to do is sleep.

Poor Lily may not be cut out for this herding thing after all. Yesterday she would circle then move away and sniff, circle then get distracted on and on for 20 mins. When I finally got in the pen she got more excited and focused but I think that maybe it is a bit stressful for her. The trainer commented that she just doesn't like it as much as Neiko does. I'm going to give lily one more shot next weekend then she may be retired from her short sheep herding career. I think that Lily would much rather be a couch potato.

Neiko, on the other hand, is coming along great. He doesn't like to work for the trainer though. He would work for her for a few mins then come over to me and stand there. So, I worked him and he did really well. He is like that in frisbee and agility too. He works much better with me than anyone else. Either way, next week we have a training goal to keep him behind the sheep rather than circle. I got him out of his circling habit a little yesterday so next weekend should go well.

I'm supposed to fly to the UP on Wed but I don't know if I'll be feeling up for that. We'll see. I hate to miss this trip.

I visited Jayde yesterday. She was having a blast herding the goats. Well trying to that is. They have a big nanny goat in the herd that was attached by a dog when she was a baby and now she tries to take them on. And of course this goat is bigger than Jayde and has horns so Jayde didnt want any part of that. They have to get Jayde's mom in there and show her how to handle that goat.

Other than that one goat Jayde seemed to be enjoying have control over something. The breeder said that if you didnt know any better you would have thought Jayde was a Border Collie the way she works with the goats.

I'm feeling a little better about the decision I made with her. Samantha thought we was gonna bring her back home. She was very upset when we didnt. So next time I will have to leave her at home.

Oh and Ginger goes to get spayed Tuesday so hope that goes well. Now just gotta find a vet near me to neuter Tico.

I finally broke down and bought a desk yesterday.  I didn't want to because I really wanted to build one specifically for this place.  But this one was on Clearance for a hundred bucks and its a big sturdy one that is only about 8 inches too short of this space so it will do for now.  I had my computer sitting on the chest freezer and that was such a pain as I had to move the entire pc every morning to get the dogs breakfast.  Plus if I needed the frozen veggies or anything else.

I have new neighbors across the street.  They moved in, I think on Thursday?  In any event, every half hour or so since they have congregated on their porch for smokes.  I guess that means they don't smoke inside.  Thats a good thing, but they also haven't quit drinking since they moved in.  I hope it doesn't turn into a problem.  Drinking in the evening is one thing, but its 10:30 in the freaking morning people!  Two nights ago I didn't notice them standing out there and I let the dogs out for a quick pee when I took them to their crates for soupy(salmon, egg and water).  Normally they would just go right to pee central and do thier thing and come straight back.  This time though they both went plowing over to meet the new neighbors.  Oopsie.  I did a quick emerg whistle and both of them did a skid stop and came back.  I was pretty proud, but I've leashed them since.  Sigh....

On the other hand, when we got home yesterday with the desk one of them came over and helped Tyler carry it inside as I'm useless in that area right now and this thing is HEAVY!!!!

Oh, for Pete's Sake!  Due to the lower stature of the new desk, guess what little girl can now climb right up on to it?

Now she can get right up her to kiss her Bugsy!

    Hahaha, I love naughty babies!

It's storming here, and probably will for the rest of the night. It's a good thing I'll be able to take wild man to daycare tomorrow.

Sheesh I was busy this weekend. I think I'll go to bed early tonight.

Today was incredible!  Honor's breeder set up a playdate for all of her AKKs in the area, and it was a blast!  There were about 8 families, and probably 15 or more AKK.   One of Honor's littermates came, and it was so nice to meet all the other AKK families!  I think I'm going to make a thread in the Photo section...it was so much fun!

And on the plus side, I have one TIRED pup right now. Smile

Julie, you might just want to give your girl a break and try again in a few months with the herding thing.  She's only been with you a few months, right?  Stress will often resolve itself as the dog matures from what I've heard.

Today was the first dry day in about a week, but instead of hiking we just went to the training building for playtime with a friend's dog - he had an upset tummy this morning and she didn't want him pushing himself too hard like he tends to do on hikes. :\  Bummer that we couldn't go hiking, but the girls are a bit tired still. :)

Gotta clean tonight and then tomorrow I have a ton of errands to run.

I made chicken wings with a brown sugar garlic sauce. I didn't have any honey, so honey garlic had to be modified.  I must say it tastes really really good.  It is gonna be soooooo messy!  Squee!!!!
