After a long day yesterday, I'm now sitting here at work with a wee little Alaskan Klee Kai on my lap and he insists on resting his head on my hand, which is trying to type! That's better than when he insisted that it be on the keyboard, though.
It's a boy! Actually, it ended up that I didn't have a choice in the matter. For reasons unknown to me, the breeder never told me that the girl got chosen by someone else (I told her that I would understand if someone else spoke for her before we met). She actually got shipped out to Rhode Island yesterday morning before I met up with them. I was okay with it, though, because as soon as Eileen zipped open the crate I fell in love! He's just adorable, and smaller than I was expecting (which is good!!).
He's a little skittish because he hasn't had much socialization for a 13 week old dog, but he's coming around very quickly and I'm sure things will be fine. He's a little love bug and loves to be held and snuggle in your lap.
He was PERFECT in the airport, on the plane and on the drive home. I actually had him in my lap for nearly the entire flight home -- he started to get squirmy when we were coming down for the landing (I think it hurt his ears) so I put him in the crate and he settled right down and didn't make a peep.
Meeting Luke and my parent's dog, Buddy, was pretty uneventful. Neither of them are really interested in the puppy right now. In fact, I think Luke is in denial and just ignores him for the most part.
Kaiser did really well in his crate last night. We fell asleep on the couch until midnight, went outside to potty and then he slept in his crate until 5:30 this morning when I had to get up for work. He will fit in well, though, because he doesn't appear to be a morning dog, either, and was slow to wake up and come out of the crate! lol
Here at work he's spent most of the morning on my lap, ocasionally being passed around and shown off to everyone who comes in to see him.
He's a real doll and so far things are perfect!
So, introducing: Kaiser!
