Is this too old for a 20-something?

Is this hairstyle too old looking for a 20-something (me!)? I'm almost 23, I got a wicked bad hair cut last month, and now my hair is getting normal again but I need something done with it. What do you think? Does it look like a "soccer Mom" hairstyle, lol?

My normal hairstyle is a bob, like this, but the hairdress totally hacked it all off and in different choppy layers, it was terrible:

I don't think so, so long as you keep the back part spikey and cool. I know nothing about hair though, so let me see if I can drum up my sister, she's a stylist (she never comes down to NDR) or I'll leave you her username and you can PM her.

    cool! thanks!

yah, my usual hairstylist was out so the other one that works there said she could do my hair since I only wanted a trim, well...I walked out of their in tears, she ruined my hair completely! it was way too short and in all choppy layers, very uneven...it was just a mess.

HI! sl2crmeg's sister here! my best advice to you would be to talk to your regular stylist and see what she thinks... since im not sure what the bad haircut looks like and what you have to work with... personally i'm not crazy about that haircut that you posted up because it never never never looks like the picture with out spending loads of time on it. also unless you have the perfect face for it, it tends to look funny. if you could post up some pics of the bad cut i might be able to point you in a better direction Big Smile

oh! and i'd like to add theres no such thing as a "trim" unless you're just getting it cut straight across the bottom Wink

I don't get the cut I guess, It looks like she just fell out of bed but you know it had to take a ton of time to make it "just so"  .....Couldn't you take a classic bob and update it a bit with product and the brow skimming bangs I am seeing in all of the magazines??

No, I think its cute! I had a friend who used to have a haircut like this, and she always had it spiked in the back and I loved it on her. If short hair looked good on me I'd definately get something like that even though DH hates short hair on woman.

My niece has a cut similar to that and she's 21.  She's also a hairstylist so she has access to someone who can touch it up every other week.  She keeps it very well, with a rainbow of colors in it.  Honestly, its been pink, green, purple, black and red, blue, you name it.  And all of it has looked tasteful.  That said, she has plenty of natural wave in her hair and like I said someone to touch it up for her every morning.  My hair can pull that off with minimal work, but I have major curl in my thick thick hair.  If your hair is straight, as it seems from the pic you posted of your normal cut, you may have a harder time getting the movement.

Ah, I don't know what to do...my hair is thick and wavy...I usually get an angled bob, I let it dry naturally then flat iron it so get it smooth...

Initially, I needed a 1/2 inch trim, so I went in to get some maintenance, and totally got 3-4 inches hacked off my already short (chin length) hair. I almost died. It almost looks like the first pic I posted now, I just need some shaping. I don't know if I should just suck it up and let it grow out or cut it shaped into something else.

The back of my hair is similar. (I'm 25.) It's actually not hard for me to style. I throw in a bunch of mousse and run my fingers through to spike it some, then I use pomade to spike it some more. I keep doing the spiking motion while I'm blow drying it, and after a little hairspray, I'm done. It takes me about 5 minutes. The hardest part is making sure you don't see your scalp.
