Today Bailey played with some little boys that live in our condo complex and I was so proud of her! I had to instruct the kids on how to properly introduce themselves to a new dog and they actually listened. Then she just sat there calmly while they petted her, gave her treats, and just generally loved on her. It almost makes up for her chewing a hole in one of the couch cushions the other day...
Anyway, this is a big deal because when we first got her, she was really shy around new people and would growl if approached too quickly. We had one incident during the first week when a little boy came charging at her and startled her, so she growled at young boys for a while. I had a talk with the kid's parents and ever since he's taken direction well and Bailey actually likes him. He also helped show the other kids how to pet her and be respectful. At the off-leash park Bailey approaches people and is still a bit shy about it, but she is an attention seeker so that overrides the shyness. :) She has come a long way in a few months and it was nice to see her interact with a group of little boys today.
