Thank you everyone for your replies. I called the vet this morning and described Joey's belly to him. He told me to keep an eye on it and if it gets any bigger to bring him in immediately. It could be a bruise (although I have NO idea how that should've happened), then it should slowly go away. If it doesn't go away it may be a bacterial infection (that's what my vet said) and he'll have to get checked out. I'm going home for lunch right now to see if it changed at all.
His belly definitely looks different than it used to. He's almost 3 years old now (August) so he may still be changing his skin color but it's weird because it happenend so suddenly and it's so dark?!?!
