    Nevermind

    Calmer now, nevermind.

     Isn't he vaccinated already?

    If he does come down with it there's a good remedy that I just read about in my rescue group. If you need the info I'll post it up.

    God, I can imagine how worried about him you must be.  I'd be the same way.  I don't have puppy experience. But, is it possible to take him to one of those emergency places and get him tested??  Is it possible to test before the symptoms?  That's probably what I'd do.  Or, at least call them and see what they recommend.

    If Eko is up to date on his parvo vax, he shouldn't be at a high risk. Even if he were to get sick, the vax should kick in the antibodies, and he'll recover quickly. If he shows any hint of being off - diarrhea, vomiting, losing appetite - get him to a vet. You could call your vet for advice on what else to look for. Parvo is a bigger concern in young puppies, seniors, and dogs that aren't healthy. Hugs for ya {{{{{{dog_ma}}}}}}

    Deep breaths.

    Has he been vaccinated?  Has he finished his course of vaccinations?

    Chances are, honestly, that if he's finished his shots and you've been taking him places, he was exposed to parvo before now - and he didn't catch it those times either.  It can live in the ground for 2 years and I doubt dog parks get bleached often.

    He'll be fine, his vaccinations will work if called upon, and even if the worst happened, which I am confident it won't, it is treatable.

    I'll be thinking of you and Eko and I understand your panic, but he'll be OK.

    Well, now I've got to ask. . .what happened??  Did the other dog not have it?  Or???

    • Gold Top Dog

    Sorry to be mysterious! I calmed down, reread parvo information on the web, and realized that since he has been vaxed, he should be ok.

    We don't know about the other dog yet. I hope he's ok. He's a great puppy.

    At the time the parvo thing came up, I was dragged into mediating between angry people and I had no chance to think about Eko. Afterwards, with adrenaline in my system from all the tension (between my friend and the rescue) I just went over the top, emotionally.

    Sigh. Nothing like 2 people who have bad people skills getting into an argument! Both my friend and the rescue woman are fiery personalities who are obviously better with dogs than people.

    Thank you guys so much. Just knowing I could come here and freak out helped me so much.

    (For those that missed the original freak out, I went with a friend who adopted a 5 month old puppy from gsd rescue. After she was almost home, and after the pup had played with Eko and been in petsmart, the rescue called up saying the pup may have parvo and my friend needed to bring him back right away. Drama ensues. I am now the official go-between for my friend and the rescue - they even have my name and number on her paperwork because they "refuse to deal with her." Roll eyes.)
