    The weirdest things you notice...

Okay, maybe I'm a bit weird.  I know many of us here notice things about our dogs that other people wouldn't.  We also notice things about other people's dogs as well.  Some are pretty straight forward like shiny fur, clean teeth, long nails, etc.  Others... well sometimes I just can't believe I notice them.  Its almost embarrassing!

Today I noticed that Crusher's anus is nice and small.  I developed a habit of watching his when we were out on walks when he was younger.  Since he had such a bad tummy, he would 'go' 3 or 4 times on a walk, and I tried to make sure we were in a convenient spot to clean up.  I could always tell when he had to go cause he would kind of bulge a little.  I think most dogs do, but Crusher is the first I ever paid attention to.  He also used to have a slight bit of staining there.  Anyway after we managed to get rid of the things he was allergic to, that wasn't as much of a worry and I quit paying attention.  He did however always have a very noticeable one, I guess because he's otherwise snowy white in that area.   Even after his poops were nice and firm when he turned, you noticed.  But today, after eating raw food and nothing but for over a month... his butt could belong to a toy poodle!  A white one at that!

I also noticed that the 22 pound dog next door has bigger turds than either of mine....haha!

So does anyone else ever astonish themselves about the things they notice?

no you're just weird - just kidding LOL

I can relate because Bugsy's anus is very exposed due to his tail being up (when healthy) and having such a short coat.  He doesn't often have an issue but I do tend to notice when there is a drop there and I wipe it off.  Better that than the carpet or my lap when he backs up onto me.  And I do notice how big some dog's poop is, when my friend's 9 lb doxie pup pooped during their play date I was stunned how big it was, man if the Bugs pooped out that much relative to size we'd be buried in it by now.  GROSS

and yes I do step back and think how did it all come to this? LOL I check his ears daily and I pick up poop daily to see how things are going and what he's been eating

I noticed that when Cheyanne goes to poop she pumps her tail. It's so funny to watch. And Lillie lifts her left hind leg up when she pees. Always.

I dont know if this is weird or not. But when we (the dogs, me, and Samantha) go walking Cheyanne will get between Samantha and an oncoming car. I think it's neat.

ROFL, my BF hates that Rascal carries his tail on his back. It's the funniest thing. He'll say, "Rascal, that's disgusting! Cover yourself up!" and gently pat Rascal's tail down. Rascal thinks this is fun, so he gets happy, so the tail goes right back up and starts wagging. Etc. etc. etc. He has such poofy butt fur though that it's hard to clearly see the "exit door."

Cita- Heh that story kind of reminds me of my parents only opposite.  Originally they thought Kirby's tail was curled up because the bones were fused that way, and the first time he relaxed his tail around them they were completely surprised and spent the next 30 minutes or so marveling over the fact he held it up on his own. Surprise

One thing I can't help but notice about Kirby is how goofy he looks when he pees.  He stretches out so close to the ground with his legs so sprawled out he looks like he is striking some Superman mid flight pose.  I still randomly break into laughter when he goes occasionally.  Another thing I always notice is how silly he looks walking out on really windy days, especially when his butt is facing the oncoming breeze. Stick out tongue

lol i usually always make coco go potty on our property before going on our walks, but sometimes she doesn't go beforehand.

these are the times when usually she begins "turtle-heading" and it's hilarious to see... hahaha

she starts walking home so fast, as if she's a little kid w/ the "i gotta go noooooooooooooow!" crossing their legs....only she is walking so fast and her anus is contracting lol.

you know... as a kid i had fluffy breeds.. chows, shepherds, huskies, collies..... i didnt notice the bung hole until i was older and had my own DobermanX pup... he was shepherd/beagle mix but he had the dobie short coat.... and yes when he was a little guy i could tell when he needed to potty.. years later i got my second dobieX pup.. same thing.. dobie short coat and that question mark tail. he used to run along in front of the truck when the landlord and i would go out to inspect fences.. the old man HATED that because Franky would be "winking" us the whole time lol

right now the thing i hate most about owning bulldogs is owning a FEMALE bulldog.... GAWD!!!! i want to put somer granny panties on her sometimes!!

i loved this picture i took of her... but when i showed it to my husband he wouldnt/couldnt be mature about it... so i cropped it lol i'd gotten so used to "that" that i didnt even notice it... then when he guffawed at it i got embarrassed lol

of course now that she cant really hold her tail up anymore due to her back injury i dont have that problem anymore..... but honestly i would prefer to have the viewing displeasure than my dog being a gimp.

Haha I never thought I'd be in a position to talk about my dogs anus, LOL!

I can tell when Rory has to go too. DH and I would be walking and I'd say "darn it she's gonna go" and it took him the longest time to notice her tail would curve at the top.

Anotehr thing I've noticed about Rory is that she never lets her bum touch the ground. She sits on her haunches no matter what. I try to notice it in other dogs and a lot sit like that but not everytime like Rory. I say she is "protecting her flower", LOL

ok, not butt-related...however... every time Jada lays down, she curls a leg completely underneath herself.  Usually, if she's casually laying down on her own, she crosses her back left leg completely underneath herself before she lays down on top of it.  If we're practicing her obedience, she will curl her front leg (or legs) underneath her chest as she lays down.  Regardless of surface (tile, grass, concrete, whatever)

Aw c'mon Chuffy, you have to have noticed something odd that your dog does that you would never have thought you would notice.

I actually wish I couldn't tell when Willow has to go because it's so frustating when I'm in a rush and I KNOW she's had to go for 10 minutes now but we are still looking for just the right spot.
