Mindless Chatter - Thurs

    Mindless Chatter - Thurs

I'm so very tired. I feel like I'm always tired lately.

I took Neiko and Lily to agility last night. Neiko was afraid of the dog walk for some crazy reason. That's usually his fav. obstacle. He was afraid of the teeter too even though he usually loves it. Crazy dog. I just worked Lily on low stress stuff like the table and the tire. She's fearful of everything so I didn't want to push her too hard.

I just want to go back to bed. I'm not excited about driving to Detroit this morning.

Jewlieee I wouldn't worry about the dog walk. Belle went through the same phase. She always LOVES the contact items and all of the sudden one day she was nervous about it. We did not make a big deal, and just continued to work it and she got past it pretty quickly. I think mini set backs are to be expected and just work through without making a deal about it. Don't you wish they could talk to you and tell you where their head is though?

Yesterday the girls went into the vet for their spring stuff. I thought they needed shots, I did not realize last year they got 3 yr. Cool. Teddi got her rabies, and all got heartworm tested. Dr S says Max is 1-3 pounds overweight Sad He says she is not "fat" but I don't know what more we can do. Hopefully when summer comes and we are all more active she will shed it. Maybe she will have to take the "big" walks from time to time.

Our vet yesterday invited DH and I to a black tie canine cancer charity affair as his guests in May. He said there is a slight chance he won't be able to make it but he should know soon. He invites two of his better clients every year, so my husband and I plus another couple will be his guests. He chose us not because of the money we have spent in the clinic (we have joked earlier that we single handedly paid his son's annual tuition) but because of the care we give our dogs. I am honored at the invite, I just need to stay on my weight loss track so I can get into my "little black dress".

I am so glad it is Thursday, this week is ending. Tomorrow is a half day for me.

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING EVERYONE!!!

sooo tired with you Julie Sleep  and everywhere I look there is stuff to do Ick!

went to the orientation for the distraction proofing class for Bugsy.  Its my first class so I was anxious but I think he'll be ahead of the others.  I just hope it does something for us.  There are 4 other dogs, 1 yr old eng bulldog, 11 mo old springer span, 10 mo old BC and a 3 yr old bernese.  I wasn't thrilled with some of what this trainer was all about so we'll see.  Oh and the room is at a huge vet clinic and smelled like cat urine.  Bugs will be insane, our biggest task may be trying to focus when surrounded by cat urine smell Tongue Tied

weather is still insane, yesterday was warm and muggy with high winds.  Rain blew through and now it is getting cooler as I type with even higher winds.  I don't mind most weather but enough with the wind.  The pine trees are throwing their giant pollen around so you have to have your eyes covered all the time.  Bugs might be light green at the end of the walk today.

     LOL enough complaining for today

No spring here, it's rainy and drizzley. It's a good thing Pirate likes rain. Hates puddles, but loves rain :/ He's sniffling out the windows since I turned the AC off and let the nice cool air in.

I'm tired too. Salem didn't want his dinner last night, which isn't all that odd, he is picky and sometimes skips a meal. Well, he decided at around 1am he wanted his dinner, NOW. He was whining and scratching at the door, so I assumed he needed to go to the bathroom. We went downstairs, and he went right for the food bowl and started barking. I threw his butt outside, and he just stood at the door barking, can't have that at 1am, so I got dressed and went out with him on leash, and got him to pee. We went back inside and he was right back to the food bowl. I was not about to give into that. If I do it once he will always expect me to feed him whenever he wants. So I brought him back upstairs, and he was straight back scratching at the door. I ended up crating him with a beef bone just so he would shut up. So I gave in to the treat, but he had to sleep in his crate when he normally sleeps in our bed. At least I'm going to pretend that I still won, lol. He ravenously ate his breakfast this morning. I'm not sure what was with him last night. He has been acting kind of weird since the neighbors got a dog. I'm thinking maybe she is in heat because they have had 3 run away dogs from the neighborhood end up on their front porch in the last few days. Indifferent Cheza was the good one last night. I brought her out at 1am because Salem woke her up, but otherwise she had no accidents.

We are all set to leave for the beach early tomorrow morning. I will make sure to get plenty of pictures. I'm not sure how Miss Cheza will react to the Ocean.

Jewlieee, Ben went through that stage as well, early in his agility classes.  Someone (maybe someone here) explained to me that it can happen when the dog starts identifying the obstacles and what they do for him/herself.  It happens with the dog walk and the teeter specifically because when a dog is running at them head on, they look exactly the same...so the dog doesn't know, when running at it, whether he is going to go halfway up and tip down, or whether he has to keep running fast up and along.  That confusion makes them temporarily scared of both.....but they get over it, Ben did within a couple of weeks.

Sorry, I had to chuckle when I read this b/c you live in Florida.  To me, "no spring" this morning was scraping ICE off my car, lots of ice....lol.

Last day of the work week!  Huzzah for religious holidays!

Mmmm flip-flops!  We put on flip-flops once it gets to about 45-50 degrees, lol.  As long as *most* of the snow/ice has melted, it's flip-flop time!

I caved today and am wearing my Lacoste flats because I hate wet toes! At least my flats are cute. I'll still wear flipflops when it's cold, tho. My favorite pair are my Kinos, which are only available in Key West, and are handmade and like $12!! They start to form-fit to your feet and the straps are way wider. If I can't find my Kinos (rare, rare occurrence, since I don't take them off) I'll wear my Rainbows, which are all leather and last foooorever. I've had those since '06.

I have to go get dog food today, but I don't get paid until tomorrow. I'm trying to decide between using my credit card or floating a check. Ugh, I just need to be independently wealthy. I really just want to go back to bed, zzzz.

    ETA - The Kino's link :) [http://www.kinosandalfactory.com/index.html] Mine are copper-colored :)

ugh busy at work today.  I basically have to re enter every docket, bill, expense, general cheque, trust cheque, trust receipt and general transfers from February 11 to date into our accounting system which conveniently corrupted.

    SOOOO FRUSTRATING.

On a nicer note, however, today is like my Friday!  Tomorrow is a holiday, and I will be going to the all about pets show :D yay.

I have also decided, that here at the office today, I am not answering the phone!  woo.

And in 7 days I leave for Florida!  wooohooo!!!!!!

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm soo not motivated today.  I don't have a lot of work to do and nothing due today so I'm having a hard time focusing.  Plus no work tomorrow so I have Friday-itis :o)  I'm excited.  I'm going to Pittsburgh tomorrow to visit my roomate and on Sat.  we're gonna go watch her aunt do roller derby.  I have never seen roller derby before, it should be interesting.  Unfortunately I have to leave right after the derby so that I can get home and make muffins to take to church for the sunrise service....this weekend is gonna go way to fast.

Roller derby sounds interesting to watch!! I wonder if they have cheesy costumes to compare or anything....

Bugsy - you're a funny boy.  My old trainer's dog used to turn around and look at her butt if she farted, too... but even better was that you could make the noise yourself, any time, and she'd still turn around and look at her own butt.  What a great dog Jane was!  There's a reason Jane is Gracie's middle name.

Today is driver appreciation day at work (it's a trucking company), so they're BBQ'ing out back.  I walked out there to get a soda from the vending machine at about 9:20am, and one of the guys asked me if I wanted a hamburger.... Hmm, not sure I could do a breakfast burger, but thanks for the offer!

Wellp, no training for Kenya tonight.  I thought it pertinent to tell my friend (training club owner) that my dogs were exposed to kennel cough and whip worm on Sunday/Monday, so she is excused from class and Coke won't be attending the pet expo on Saturday. It's no big deal, saves me 45 minutes traveling each way and lotsa gas $$.  I will walk Kenya and work on her BH-ish obedience stuff in this church field by our house instead.  I'm kinda glad to now have the extended weekend to ourselves.  We might go to a beach on Sat that allows dogs, not that we can swim (yeah, it's still 35 degrees here), but it's rare to find a beach that allows dogs.  Sunday we are having people for Easter so I need to clean.
