    Extremely weird sleeping behavior!!!!

DF has had some extremely weird sleeping behaviors lately...I'm trying to convince him to go to the doctor's, but like many guys, he's very reluctant to go. Here's what happend...

Two nights ago I was talking to DF. We were making eye contact, I was mid sentence, and all of a suddent his eyes rolled back like he passed out, and he was asleep! JEREMY!!! He woke right up. Um...what just happend? It was only 9:00pm. He said he was tired but hasn't been working more, hasn't been staying up late or getting up early.

It happend again tonight. He was on the computer, talking to me, then he stopped talking. It looked like he was asleep, sitting up right at the computer...

What's going on here? He's defiantly not into drugs, not on any meds, and rarely drinks...Anybody go thorugh this before?? I'm pretty lost at what to do.....

It's hard to say he definately needs to see a doctor and be checked out. Has he had any new or recent stress in his life? Any new medical symptoms (peeing more, snoring, etc.)? Is he overweight? Has he gained weight recently? Its possible it's sleep apnea? How old is he?

No new recent stress. No new medical symptons; he's been a snorer since we met. He isn't overweight, he's about 170lbs and 5'9". He hasn't gained weight lately, at least none that I noticed, and he's 26.

It's just so weird...he falls asleep, but it looks like he passes out...I can't call his doctor and make an appointment, only he can do that, and getting him to go is the hardest thing in the world.

I think there's a medical condition, narcolepsy, that  causes people to just suddenly fall asleep for brief periods of time.  It really needs to get checked out ASAP so it doesn't happen while he's crossing a street  or driving.

1 of the reasons I'm extremely worried is, he's a marine engineer and is always working on engines of the huge boats, and works with machines all day.

Wow!  That would be a major reason to get him to a doctor even if you have to tie him up and drag him there.

I'm going to have to! URGH, he makes me crazy sometimes....recently he was bitten by a tick, and it took his ankle swelling up and getting covered in a nasty, nasty rash, to the point where he coudn't wear socks because it irritated it, to get him to go to the doctors. He was tested for Lyme Disease, thank God it came back negative.

Two years ago, when he was still in the USCG, he got really sick. Almost like the Flu, but way worse. He kept throwing up this neon yellow "stuff". Turned out, after he could barely breathe and ended up in the hospital, he had a bad case of pneumonia!! He stayed 3 days in the hospital.

He doesn't go until he absoultely has to...Super Angry

That is really important, he should do that. He may need a cardiac work-up too. Someone that young that is not overweight shouldn't have episodes like that without other symptoms. Let us know what you find out!

I will let you know updates!

LOL, hopefully he will make an appoinment this week...if not I threatend to call his mother, lol.

I would get him in as well.  Like Kelly said, it sounds like it could be sleep apnea....I have an uncle that my brother used to work for and he would do the exact same thing...just fall asleep mid sentence.  It was so weird.  He had a snoring issue that was eventually resolved with surgery.  Not sure if he still falls asleep mid sentence or not though.

My hubby was the same way for years.  It took begging and pleading to get him to the Dr. but if it was something I was really concerned about he would go in eventually.  Recently he got some sort of upper respiratory infection that never went away after 2 months.  He was waking me up all night long with his snoring and snotting and getting up to blow his nose.  I finally made threats to sleep in the other room and withhold..well you know....and he went that day to Carenow.  Finally, we are both sleeping great at night!  For mine, if I try to make an appt at the regular Dr it is much harder to get him to go then if I set up an appt at somewhere like Carenow where we check in online, he can wait at home, and it is after work so he doesn't have to ask for any time off.  Good luck!

    Thanks!

We talked about him going to see a doctor this morning. His mandatory physical (to keep health insurance) is in a week, so he's going to mention it to the doctor then...I'm going with him, granted I'll be in the waiting room, but I will tell him to let the doctor know everything about what happend.

Yikes, that sounds really scary. Drag that boy into the doctor and make him stay there till he's all fixed up!! Hope you guys figure out what's going on and get him all fixed up. Also, pardon my ignorance, but what's "DF"?

I've been assuming it's 'dear fiance' but I could be way off.

I actually work with a person who does this all the time.  This is what he suffers from:
