    Blue's been attacked

Blue and I were walking our usual route when I saw a boxer up ahead off lead just watching us as we were walking down the street. I heard the lady call for her dog and as soon it was with her she grab  hold of his collar she started taking it to the house.  I continued to walk Blue up the street with him at a close heel. When the next thing I hear the lady yelling the dog's name as it's running straight at us so I stop while Blue is planted against my leg. The next thing I know the dog sniffs Blue then Blue is screaming as the dog is biting him.

Luckily the dog only got to bite once while I moved my self in front of Blue and the lady was able to get a hold of her dog while she drags it off back into her yard. I do a  quick check over Blue not sure where the dog bit him finding nothing for the moment I try to get the heck out of there. Only to here the lady screaming for her dog again as we are just past her house I turn around only to see the dog running toward my direction. This time I got Blue in my arms trying to cover his butt with my hands and trying to keep the dog from jumping up to bit Blue again.

After the lady got a hold of her dog again I kept on walking with Blue in my arm's until we where all most off that street. Even though I checked him twice once after the attack in the middle of the street and after we got off the street  it wasn't until I got home that I notice Blue has been bit in the face. He has one bite mark in his muzzle which I have cleaned so far and doesn't seem to bother him nor is it bleeding now.

The dog came at you and Blue twice???  That dog should not be allowed out the front door without being securely leashed.  Since you know where the dog lives, I think you should go and let the owner know that Blue got bitten.

Oh no poor Blue!! [:(] I agree with fuzzy_dogs_mom, I would go to the boxer's house and tell them your dog got bit.  I know accidents happen but they really need to be aware and not let this sort of thing happen again.

What a nightmare !   Feel better Blue.
I'd take Blue to the vet just to get a bill and then march over to that woman's house and demand she reimburse you for it.   Money talks - perhaps having to pay the vet bill will put a fear into her and teach her a lesson

I completely agree!!  Even if you don't think that Blue needs vet treatment, you need to document this attack.  Also call Animal control and report the attack.

Blue, get well quick!  I am so glad that no one was seriously hurt.

Yes, the owner needs to know this happened and that Blue got bit.
I think if she was any kind of decent person she would offer to pay for a vet bill.
BUT I think we all have to consider we have dogs...we know how easy this could happen to any of us.  It is my nightmare that a dog will come after my dog. Its my bigger nightmare that my dog will go after another!
Meanwhile watch Blue carefully,,, I understand that its very very easy for infection to set in on a dog bite.

Since the bite broke the skin, call AC and report the bite. They usually (depending on your individual ordinances) require proof of current rabies vax or will require that the dog be quarantined if not up to date. In addition, you can find out if this dog has bitten anyone else in the past...in our area, after a dog has bitten twice, the officers can put in a request to find the dog potentially dangerous, which mandates that the owner take certain precautions with their dog (muzzled in public, always on a leash, posting beware of dog signs, etc.) or vicious if bitten three times. If AC has a long standing history with this person, your report could help keep other citizens and their critters safe.

It is every dog owner's worst nightmare and as an owner of a dog-reactive/dog-aggressive dog, it is my worst nightmare that she would get ahold of another dog. But because of that, I take extra precautions with her when there is a chance that she will encounter other dogs and it sounds like this woman may need to be instructed to do the same.

I don't the lady and the dog actually lives there since this is the very first time I have ever seen her or the dog. Usually when I walk by I see the parents with their 4 year old son and have never seen this women she is older so I don't know if it's the grandma or what. I just know I could hear her yelling at the dog half way down the block while I was getting the heck out of there.

I might see if my mom can stop there come tomorrow since I'll be working late tomorrow to let them know that he was injured.

I'm keeping an eye on his wound and I making sure it stays clean the moment it's looking funny were going straight to the vet.

I hope everything with Blue turns out okay,  I'm so sorry  this happened to both of you.
As a dog owner and more importantly as a parent, this needs to be reported.  What if that dog bit small child in the face?  The owner should be held accountable....my opinion.

wow...blue must be a good tempered dog.
and a Boxer attacked? Strange behavior for a boxer.

OMG!  Poor Blue.  I would be soo mad!  I hope Blue is okay.  I hate that people have no common sense when it comes to dogs.  If she couldn't hadle that dog, then she shouldn't have it.  Let us know how Blue is doing and give him kisses from all of us.

Poor Blue!  I'm glad to hear that he escaped with only minimal damage.  I would let the owner know that there was a bite involved, & I would nicely recomend that she keep her dog on a leash from now on.

Give Blue a little lovin form me!

You should always report these things to animal control.

People not reporting it is why folks think they can get by with it.

Another thing you have to consider, if your dog turns reactive due to this (mine did)...it will be you working your butt off doing desensitization programs and paying for behavorists.

I am glad your dog is okay....but don't let them get by with it.  Think of the next dog and owner.

These people might very well not be trying to get away with anything. The lady might just be upset and horrified that her dog did this.
I said in another post today,, I walk my dog every day. I am terrified that another dog will attack,, when I was a kid it happend to my friends and I who were taking our Penny around the block in a wagon,,covered like a baby, and a dog came off someone porch and attacked. Scared me to death and I think about it all of the time. BUT even more than I am terrifed my dog will be attacked,,, I am terrified that mine will somehow open the door and go after another dog walking by my house.
Yes, I would be responsible. Yes it would be my fault. Yes there is things that could have prevented it from happening, but I think we all need to remember we are dealing with animals here and none of us can be really sure what our own dogs might do from one minute to the next. My husband who carried mail for a living always said " the most dangerous dogs are the ones who's owner is standing there saying he doesn't bite!
I'm not sure what the right thing to do,,,but I do think as a dog owner (and yes also as a parent) that filing a report without even talking to the dogs owner and finding out how responsible they are, and their attitudes is not what I would do.

I'd be apt to agree if this all occurred when the dog was originally out loose but the woman had him by the collar and he got free a second time.   I can forgive the first time (accidents happen) but thats not the case here
