bloody diarrhea

 If she were my dog, I'd call the vet. Bloody diarrhea is something I wouldn't be able to ignore- I'd have to ask.

I'd say plenty of water, a bland diet, all the usual stuff.  The only thing that has me thinking maybe just call the vet and make sure you don't need to be seen is the bleeding.  I let bleeding go about a month ago and it didn't resolve.  The vet had said to me then, if there is bleeding I should bring her in and not wait. 

Absolutely -- if you just said diarreha that's one thing.  but BLOOD any time is different.  That can mean something like pancreatitis and other things that truly NEED treatment.  I'd go to the vet in the early morning -- and I'd stress "blood in the diarreha" -- make sure they know that when you call or drop in.  It's important.

Yeah, and it's probably going to be treated the same way with Metro and maybe Panacur and a bland diet.  But, they usually just want to check it out and make sure it isn't any of the things Callie mentioned.  So, don't panic.

Take him to the vet. Blood in the stool = VET. There are lots of things that could mean, better safe to check it out.

If it were me I would call my Vet and tell him what happened just for piece of mind.  My dog had gastro issues when a puppy and I changed foods often.  Many times if I didn't change it slowly enough his diarrhea would have blood.  According to my Vet that RED blood is a sign of lower instestional or colon issues, due to inflammation or irritation of the bowel or rectum.  It's the dark blood in stools that should cause alarm.  Given that your dog ate alot of chicken I wouldn't be alarmed (but would call Vet to be sure) because the sudden change diet could easily cause the diarrhea, Hench the intestions, bowel inflammation - causing diarrhea, causing a sore bum and blood.

 If he is acting fine otherwise, I would put him on a bland diet of boiled chop meat and rice for a couple of days.

I was going to post this as well but you saved me the trouble! It sounds to me that your dogs colon is just irritated due to all of the diarrhea. Bright red is ok, dark red is not. I learned this through my experiences with Dakota - my sensitive stomach dog. 

Thanks for all the replies, it is a bright red blood.  I am keeping an eye on her and will get into the vet tomorrow.

I wouldn't feed her anything for 24 hours. I'd wait before introducing even a bland diet, to give her gut a chance to deal with all of that dehydrated food.  

More good advise.  I would call the Vet not necessarily run her into the Vet since she is acting AK.  Vet = $$ .
