Dog strollers aren't stupid

    Dog strollers aren't stupid

They're actually really, really great. I would have LOVED to have one, today. I was standing in line at the ticket counter, and I spotted an ADORABLE black and white Peke in a red stroller. I had to go talk to her dad about it. The bag part detaches, and the stroller folds to fit in the overhead compartment of the plane. The poor dog isn't subjected to being carried all over the airport, and the owner doesn't have to deal with shoulders falling off, backaches, tension headaches, and the joy that comes from carrying a 19 lb dog on your shoulder. All. Day.

Guess what Emma's getting? Yeah, if I *ever* fly again, she's riding in a dang stroller, whether I look stupid or not!

Yeah, I hear ya... Rascal's only 7-8ish pounds (depends how many cookies the people at our front desk are giving him, heh) but trying to make a tight connection with him is just not fun. Sounds like a neat stroller/bag contraption... probably pretty pricey though, no?

It is a comfy way to travel if needed.

Nooo... He said he paid $49 for it on ebay!!! Lemme see if I can find one like it....

It was basically like a sherpa bag, snapped onto a light, wheeled frame.

His looked just like that. It says it holds pets up to 30 lbs, so it'll support Em's weight.

Very cool,it probably would come in handy,so much easier than carrying them everywhere where even the smallest, lightest dog gets heavy after a while. However i know there are pet owners out there who's dogs mostly travel in strollers, hand bags etc rather than walk.I'm not saying you'de do that Jennie,i know you wouldnt, but some owners take treating their dogs like "babies" to the extreeeeme!

Sallya your pic looks like a proper kids stroller,is it a pet or human one?

LOL, nope. This dog has four legs, and she's dang sure gonna use 'em! Now, when I still had Teenie, I'd considered a stroller for her. She was old, and sore, and liked getting out. She was a smidge too awkward to carry easily, with the long body, and didn't have the "oomph" to walk too far. It would have been good for her, had she lived a bit longer. For Emma? I'll only use it at the airport. This week was the first time since she was a young puppy I'd put her into a bag to carry her. I used to have a big, straw beach bag that I carried her in. It was pretty cute, and great for getting her out before she was old enough to really walk.  That was fantastic for her.

I might end up using this one, in the future, for puppies or older dogs. If I had a tiny dog that wasn't safe to walk in crowds, I might use one. Otherwise? Airport! LOL

I will say that I'm really, REALLY glad she's small enough to fit in this stuff, and fly in the cabin. She really pushes the limit, but she can squeeze. I don't think I could have done this trip, alone. She helped me out, a lot.

Wow, 19 pounds, and I was feeling bad about thoughts of having to cram 9 pound Kirby in one of those little carry on bags in case I had to fly with him.  I was actually thinking about looking into the Sherpa bag that has little wheels because my laptop weights about as much as him when I carry it with all wires and even that is a pain as far as weight. XP

Yeah, Emmie is pretty solid. She's thick, and stocky. Not built at all like a Pap, LOL. She's 13 1/2" at the shoulder. Her chest, though, is like 18" around. She's super heavy, for a dog her size. Her buddy Gator is a Chinese Crested. He weighs 8 lbs and is TALLER than she is.

She did so great. I'm still beaming with happiness over how good she was, on the whole trip. I did buy a stroller, just now. That simple, red one. Simple is good, when I've got other things to think about (like getting to the gate on time, and whether my checked bags are going to arrive or not).

Happy to hear she did so well, and on such short notice.  The thing that worries me about Kirby is he isn't fond of closed in places and being a little over 11 inches at the shoulders there isn't much stretching room in those little bags height wise.  He is crate trained, but even his little hard traveling crate isn't near as small as the bags.  My big worry is he would moan/whine/complain to me the entire time to be let out so I am planning to have to break him in slowly to whatever bag I finally get.   It doesn't help that I'm sure in a strange place he would also immediately freak out and start howling if I dared to leave his eyesight while he was confined to said little bag. Tongue Tied

Ooooh, that stroller looks like a sweet deal for traveling!  I might have to look into that... I plan on flying out to Colorado to pick up a puppy in the next couple of months and that would be perfect.

To be clear, that crate will fit under the airline seats?

Just a Public Service Announcement - if you're thinking about flying, do NOT get a bag with wheels (unless the wheels are detachable) because it takes up some of that precious vertical clearance underneath the seat, not to mention makes it easier for the dog to slide around during the flight. Wink

Yes, that bag is a tiny smidge smaller than the one I used on my flight. I flew Delta, in coach class. I figure a bit smaller won't be so bad, if she isn't having to balance herself constantly.

That looks WAY cool!  I may have to get one for potential fosters.  Ya never know & the price is soooo good.
