800 Dogs in a Triplewide Trailer!!

OMG !!! Any one else see the story about 800 toy breed dogs and 82 parrots found in a triple wide trailer in Tucson Az ??!!?? An elderly couple sold a woman a chihuahua about a month ago, she reported them to the sheriff after she left.   Oh it gets WORSE !! The 800 dogs were free in the Trailer !!  Even though they were well fed , some were missing paws from fights and the fence outside.  And I get weird looks for the 8 RRs I have in my almost 3000 sq foot home . The authorities are saying they feel it is not intentional neglect but rather a case of hording. The couple were overwhelmed and co-operated with the sheriffs department and animal control. They specifically mention Chis, JRTS, and Poms. How horribly sad !

There are posts all over the board about this & my Pap group is pretty frantic.  Has anyone seen or heard of any Paps among the dogs?

I have not heard of any... whew right??  The photo accompaning the article has chis and a terrier.  I can not begin to imagine. I worry over friends with huge kennels. One girlfriend has 5 wolfhounds and 7 border terriers. Another has 5 Mastiffs ! all are adored like my 8 rrs but can you even begin to think about it??? Oh my gosh how on earth could you handle them going off and yapping when the door bell rings?  And I know the amount of waste my pack can produce. Granted they have teeny tiny poohs but good gravy, unreal concept.  I am sure most of them are accidental breedings since they have the run of the house.  Could you even walk like a person? I would worry constantly about stepping on one.

Unbelievable.  I have a hard time some days walking from room to room because Max likes to sprawl in doorways.  I can't imaging trying to step over 800 dogs, even small ones.  And God forbid someone should need to get to the bathroom in a hurry. Sure glad someone reported this.

I feel bad for the dogs, but now they will be taken care of (fed, fresh water, medical care) until homes are found for them. So that's good.  I feel really bad for the elderly couple....hoarding is a mental disease, in their eyes they don't *think* they're doing anything wrong. It's so sad. I hope social services steps in and helps this couple, either putting them in a home where they will be taken care of (medically, have clean food/room, etc) or contact family who could step in and help them....I hope they're taken care of, and the police/SPCA don't just take the dogs and leave the couple with no help. This is a sad case all around....hopefully with a happy ending; with all the dogs finding homes and the couple finding help.
