Wow - I'm sorry. Hard to imagine 2 chickens cost $400, but I guess in your situation there wasn't room to dispute it. I hope the car starts and your day gets better very soon.

I believe in the saying, when it rains, it pours.  Right now your life seems quite upside down, but don't worry, because after this bad part, good will come!

Bad things always happen to me in groups, all at once, then things start to look up.  I am sorry all this bad stauff has happened today and lately, but it will be okay!!  Don't give up!

Yeah it sucked having to pay 400 bucks for chickens. They were show chickens so I can see the money in them. I just couldnt believe Jayde did that. I mean we walk by there everyday( unless it's too cold or raining). I dont know what happened today that made her want to do that.

sl2crmeg- I had to call JJ's mom to "bail" me out. He doesnt know anything about it. His mom has helped me alot with the dogs lately when it's come to money. I dont know what I would do without that woman. I love her sooooo much. 

Well the car wouldnt start so we had to have it pulled up here. So JJ had to drive the windowless mustang to work. When he was pulling out of the driveway the rearview mirror fell off which surprised JJ and he rear ended a tree beside our driveway. So now the windowless mustang now had a busted taillight.

It has been a horrible horrible day here guys. I am exhausted. I think I cried all day. I hope tomorrow is better.

ETA: Thanks guys for not fussing or trying to tell me what could have been done to prevent this horrible accident. Like I said we walk this road everyday that we can.

LOL, I don't usually call her to bail me out. I call her and vent :) she's one of my bestest friends, now that I'm a little older.

But yep, you better go to bed, and hopefully tomorrow is better.

what kind of chickens were they?  I would think a normal average chicken would run you at most 20 to 40 bucks, hens are more expensive or maybe real special breeding stock but even that should not amount to $400 for two chickens!

 Even so it could have been worse, they could have sued or called the police and demanded the dogs head on a platter, killing livestock (are chickens livestock?) can be a terrible offense and most states even allow the owner (of the livestock) to shoot your dog right in front of you if it is chasing livestock. I heard of a guy in Texas who had his entire pack of dogs shot by a farmer and there was nothing he could do anout it. His dogs were not even chasing livestock but he had unknowingly crossed a property line.

 dgtiego- I have no idea what kind of chickens they were. I've only had "mixed breed" chickens. I dont know the breeds of chickens. They had real pretty chickens there that cost 700 bucks and up. I was glad that Jayde didnt get one of them.

I know what you mean on the shooting of dogs that kill livestock. I was surprised that they didnt shoot her. But the woman said if her dad had been home he would have shot Jayde in a heartbeat. So I am glad he wasnt home.

I have to keep Jayde leashed or inside now because I let her out this morning and she started running up the road to where the chickens are. Luckily she has a great recall.

shouldnt show chickens be kept in coops???

they were askin for it.... sure they were nice... nice and stupid.

i've been there before.. the whole ordeal.. but specifically chickens. as a kid our dog Sandy had a major prey drive.. we didnt find this out until she brought home a giant fancy feathered rooster. just a few days before she did that the lady who owned the chickens (nutter..) said she'd shoot any dog that got near her birds.

Well... Sandy chose a day when the old woman wasnt home, lucky dog! still my brother and i went nuts, running around in circles with this stupid dead bird, trying to find a place to stash the body. ended up burying it in a very very VERY deep hole. we also had to keep Sandy chained from then on - yeah i know, bad, but we couldnt afford a fence and didnt want our dog shot or our mom sued. Amazing what you can learn from those mistakes!!

anyway.. i dont wanna compare too many notes with you but lets say i am in the same boat.... its been a helluva month so far!! but thankfully all the dogs are behaving themselves lol 

Dumdog- I almost died when they told me the cost of those chickens. I soooo wanted to tell them they could just have all my dogs!! Think they would have taken Kujo but Samantha would have killed me.

Anyways the reason the chickens werent in their cope was it was a nice day out and they had them out eating grass,bugs, etc. They had some kind of sting attached to their leg. So they had no way of getting away from Jayde. I felt so bad. I've had pet chickens before. None that cost 200 bucks each though. 

I just dont know what made Jayde decide to go after them yesterday. We walk by there all the time and she has seen the chickens out before.
