    Gas smell? (sl2crmeg)

I was pumping gas into a tank today, and I splashed some on my foot. Besides the soap-and-water routine, HOW DO I GET THE SMELL OFF!? I may go insane if I don't get the smell off. Help?

Maybe this will help? Baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice all seem to be pretty good for odor removal...

I have a friend who does this with great regularity. Smile Soap and water and a nice smelling lotion should take care of your foot.  If any got on your clothes you might have to run them through the washer two or three times.  Not sure what to do about your shoes if they're not washable canvas.  You might have to toss them.

Hm, maybe I'll lemon juice my gas-covered sandal...

Don't forget NOT to put anything in the washer/dryer that has gasoline in it still!!!!!

Not that I've ever tried it, but my washers and dryers have always had dire warnings about the fire risks associated with washing flammable objects, so they've frightened me away from ever experimenting.

I let them air-dry first, and then washed in cold, per dear ol' mom, LOL.

I call her and ask what to do with the gas-covered towel I had, and she goes, 'DON'T put it in the washer!! Let it dry out first!' She knows me too well : )

    You are so very right.

Can you say fuel air bomb.  If you put gas soaked items in the wash the gas will vaporize in the enclosed space and all it takes is one spark from any part of the washer to set that off and BOOM improvised explosive device.

Also make sure you let them air dry outside!  Not in an enclosed space such as a garage or the house.

Well, thanks for explaining it beyond those stickers on the appliances.
