Mindless Chatter - Tues

    Mindless Chatter - Tues

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed thanks to a couple not to be named furry animals.

I'm tired as heck and need more hours of sleep.

I'm wearing jeans today darnit! And my paws with a cause sweatshirt. Good thing I transferred to construction where that kind of attire is appropriate!

I know how you feel. Cheza got me out of bed 4 times last night to bring her to potty. I'm glad she makes noise and doesn't just go in the crate or something, but I am so tired. Of course dh just doesn't hear her so I am the one to get up. Maybe last night will teach her a lesson not to get into the cat food. I know she wasn't feeling well.

I am sorry neither of you slept very well.

I am wondering, does anyone know the difference between therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists?  I am going to have to start seeing someone very soon, and I don't know which will suit me.

Also, does anyone know how to go about finding them where i live?  I think i am in need of some serious help.

How does your health system work in Canada? Here in the states, your insurance company will help you find a dr.

Psychiatrists can prescribe meds - usually you'll only see one of these once a month or so

psychologists are typically for weekly talking sessions (or more if you need one). I don't think that they can prescribe meds.

I think that I have this right anyway.

I think a psychologist probably has at least a masters level in psychology.  A psychiatrist is an actual doctor (went to med school) and knows more about how the brain and neurological system works.  I'm not sure where a "therapist" fits in, probably someone that could be either of the two, or a social worker.  I'm not sure how to find what type you want though.  Good luck, I hope you can find the appropriate person!

Julie I'm also wearing jeans today, and a hoodie.  Technically we are not supposed to wear jeans or logos, but my boss lets me wear "nice" jeans (b/c some girl jeans are "nicer" than the guys' khakis!) and I figure since the hoodie is from the campus store and has the school's logo, I can get away with it.  Also, school is on spring break so there's no one around.  All I really HAVE to do today is five 360 reviews and I did them this morning.  There's no one here to call in so we're just messing around.  The boss is at a conference.

A Psychiatrist is able to dispense psychiatric medication. At least here most won't do therapy. They are medical doctors.

A psychologist is basically a step up education wise from a therapist (but could also be called a therapist). I think generally therapist refers to a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I would probably look for a psychologist.

You could ask your medical doctor who he recomends for a psychologist. You could also just call around and see who you are comfortable with. I would see someone once before you decide whether that will be the person you will see for good. You have to be very comfortable with them.

I feel really weepy today.  I am sure it is hormonal, plus, my boss' daughter's horse died yesterday.  The boarding place let them leave him covered in the stall overnight b/c her daughter was out of town and got home last night so she could say goodbye.  My boss sent me an email and told me that she was so glad they did that b/c it was therapy to her.  Her other horse came in and stood by her while she said goodbye.  Even typing this is making me weepy again.  She loved that horse so much.  She even took her senior pics with him.  Run free sweet Flashy boy!

l.michelle, as far as I know a psychologist and therapist are very similiar in what they do although one may have a different level of education.  They are usually the one you go to talk to about your issues.  A psychiatrist is the one who prescribes medication.  If you are needed some help, I would get a psychologist or therapist of some sort to start with.  In the U.S., I would go to my insurance company and find who they cover in my area to start with.  In Canada I am not sure what the best approach is.  You might just do a search for them in your vicinity.  I hope you get help quick.  I know you have had a lot to deal with lately.  I will keep you in my good thoughts.

My condolences on the horse. I just lost one of mine about 3 weeks ago. I am still weepy too! He was very special to me. You can tell her Sayler will keep her horse company at the bridge.

BF ran out of gas in the Jeep today, so I had to bring him the extra gas tank. He didn't TELL me he was out of gas, so first I brought it to him empty. Then I filled it up for him ($15!!) and he was mad that I said he owed me $15. PLUS I got gas on me, somewhere, and the smell is driving me crrrrazy! I hate BF.

I'm so cozy and comfy in my jeans, boots and sweatshirt. This should be my work outfit forever.

I wear yoga pants and a tshirt to work :) with the occasional sweatshirt if it's cold.

I shouldn't laugh but reading that just cracked me up....sorry Tongue Tied

The weather here is in the low 70s, sunny and gorgeous. I have a major case of spring fever and wanted to call in sick but didn't. I've regretted it all day long. Oh well, only an hour and half to go and at least it'll be light for a couple extra hours.

Oh, Sarah, just reading that had me starting to tear up, too.  My condolences to Flashy Boy's owner and friends.  :(

For whatever reasons, the phones at work now say today is August 11th... interesting...

I need to buy some summer work clothes, but I've made a deal w/myself that I cannot buy anything until I drop 7lbs.  Let's see how quickly I get there, since this is Cadbury Mini-Egg season... *gah!*

oh cadbury mini eggs - those things are evil! They are way too good for words

I went to Star Wars at the Franklin Institute today... cool, but short.

Also, the mother I thought was going to flip out at me didn't flip out. However, the program we got sucks. I mean, if I cannot understand it, and I have training and experience, how the heck is a parent going to understand how to do it?
