Hello from New Jersey

    Hello from New Jersey

Here's joining the group a fourtysomething woman with a 11 year old dalmatian Tasha and three cats. My favorite dog activity is hiking. Tasha is still in good shape and we will be able to continue this activity once the snow is gone. I have had a lot of time in my hands the last week and have browsed a few different forums. Looks like the forums with many different strong opinions have the most activity. Once a forum becomes sort of a fan club of one philosophy, discussion ends and the forum dies. My "philosophy" is kind of flexible. I personally don't believe in pack theory, but I think by all means, people can call themselves pack leader, alpha or "führer" if that works for them and gives them the right "energy". It's just words. Every training style works to some dogs as long as you have a plan, know what you are doing and don't abuse the dogs irrationally. However, the explanation why it works might be wrong. Here is Tasha last summer:

Houston I have a problem! I composed my messege with paragraphs, what happened, why is everything monotoniously together?! This style of text is really hard to read.

Welcome!  It sounds like you and I share a philosophy, I was just never able to put it into words (you'll discover I'm not good at that. ) :)  Tasha is beautiful!  Where were those pictures taken?  Except for the waterfall, I'd swear they were taken in the Teetertown Gorge.

Frustrating, isn't it?  I'm still getting used to some of the features ever since the board changed to this format.

Hi micksmom! You are right about the first pic. It is taken at the Musconetcong River Reservation in Hunterdon County. Didn't know it's called Teetertown Gorge, but my google indicated it is in that area. I love that place, so peaceful. We found it once when we went first to the Ken Lockwood Gorge and it was too crowded there that weekend, Asian ladies in cityclothes and highheels trying to walk the rocky road LOL. My hubby said we should go somewhere else pretend to be more rugged. He played with his GPS and we ended up to the Musconetcong River. The second pic was taken in Boonton, Morris County (there is a waterfall too, pic below) and the third one was taken at the bottom of the Buttermilk Falls in Sussex County.

Hmm, now I'm confused.  That little stream eventually feeds into the Musconetcong , but it isn't the Muscy.  When you left Ken Lockwood, did you go up road near the A&P?  There's 2 roads that will get you to the Tettertown Gorge- one is Teetertown Rd, about half way up the mountain.  The other is Pleasant Grove Rd, pretty much at the top.  Hunterdon County owns an old farm on Pleasant Grove Rd now (it was still a farm when we lived over there).  The place I'm thinking of is actually called the Teetertown Ravine Nature Preserve.  When we lived over there, it was called the Teetertown Gorge.  We just called it the rock hopping stream.  LOL

Micksmom, ok then it is a different gorge you're talking about, but your guess was very close anyway.

Aa, it's still in the area I know.  :)  Heck, I probably know where you were anyway.  LOL  Now I'm wondering if it's actually over by Point Mountain.  The Muscy runs along the bottom of the mountian.  There's a trail that goes along the river (among other trails).

Oh, I think I forgot to tell you how beautiful Tasha is, and your pictures, too.

Welcome! If your paragraphs don't show up, it's probably because you're using Safari. Try downloading (free) Firefox. It works much better.

    Tasha is gorgeous!
