    Microchip Tag(aDork)

Do you put yours on the collar? Why/why not?

Pirate's is *shrug* I just couldn't think of a reason not to put it on there, so on it went!

I did, then I lost Kenya's tags.  Her county one expired anyway, so now she has a new tag ring with some new tags I just got.  It has the county tag (license, which also proves rabies vaccination), and two additional tags, both which include her chip number (I didn't feel like buying a new tag just for the chip number):

AKC Canine Good Citizen tag - CGC picture on the front, on the back it says:
    "KENYA"
    [my name]
    [my address]
    [my phone]
    SPAYED, VACC'ED
    DOB 28 Oct 2003
    AKC [reg number]
    MC [microchip number]

And then a second bone-shaped ID tag that says:
    "Kenya"
    [my name]
    [my address]
    Call [my phone]
    Microchip ID [chip number]

Woobie's is on his collar along with a tag with my contact info.  He also has a boomerang tag on his harness that says Chipped - Reward - Please Call Collect, etc.

Indie just has the boomerang tag with all my info and the Chipped - Reward - etc bit.  As much as he chews EVERYTHING I just suspect he'd be like my Airedale and would chew off (and likely swallow) anything that dangles from the collar if bored or sufficiently motivated.

Max wears his chip tag on his collar along with his rabies tag, his county ID tag and a tag w/his name, my name address & phone #.

I dont, my vet advised me not to because with the actual microchip number, someone could change all the information to theirs,  if they found/wanted your dog. Maybe im wrong but i was advised to just keep it in a safe place. I havent tried to change all the info on it, but Im assuming you could.

LoL again maybe im wrong, Belle's got a load of collars and each one has "I Am Microchipped" engraved on them.

Casey's is on his collar - with his county tag and a tag with my number on it. My cat's are not on their collars - too big. They just have their name tags, and one has his county tag.
I don't think anyone could go in and change the information - you would have to provide some sort of proof.

OT question.. if you don't know your dog's microchip number, and the information registered to it is out dated, how do you change it? It's an Avid chip, if that matters...

Whoever implanted the chip should have the number in their records.  Then you just have to contact Avid.

As for the original question- yes, Caleb has his Avid chip in his collar (among others).  I have to order him a new ID tag.  I think while I'm at it, I'll get one that just says something like "I'm microchipped" to replace the Avid one.

Yeah, but it was done like..7 or 8 years ago, when she belonged to my sister, so I don't know what vet did it. I guess though at her next vet appointment I could have them scan her and tell me the number?

You can take her anywhere and have her scanned. Then call the company. AVID charges a small fee to change information - it's like $15 or something like that.
