dog/bike attachment...

 I biked with my dogs, for a bit, but never bought an attachment. I used a Flexi lead. My dogs are small, though. Teenie, especially, loved the bike rides. I had to stop taking her, when she started tearing up her feet on the road. Emma liked them well enough, but seems to prefer slower walkies, where she can sniff to her heart's content.

I was surprised at  how little trouble I had, with both dogs, as far as pulling/lunging went. Teenie was totally untrained (but small) and she "got" the bike thing, immediately. She went out in front of me and just ran. Emma is more trained, but was afraid of the bike. She took some clicker training to get used to it, and the just ran along, beside me.

I got my neice the WalkyDog thing from Sitstay and she is very happy with it - my research led me to that being easier and safer than the springer one.  I would love to try it with Bugs but have the same concerns however...if I run with him or put his pack on he is pretty focused & tends to trot in a very straight line and isn't into sniffing so I am leaning towards giving it a try.

I don't have either yet, but I find when Crusher is running with the bike he's very very much into that.  He couldn't care less about anything else.  But he's a husky and pulling is what they love to do best.  Also, with the springer, it is supposed to absorb some of the pull of the dog.  I'll have to look into the WalkyDog one. 

I'm looking for a big basket for my bike's front handlebars to fit one of my yorkies on it. I think she'd love it.  

I had a springer that worked very nicely.  It buffered the pulling, as to not throw me of balance.  I wrecked the bike about a month ago, & the springer was damaged to the point of no return.  I ordered the knock off springer from pet edge, & it works just as well as the name brand.

Best solution to that is to work with him and train him not to go after something he sees.  I read in another post you like to walk him off leash so he must be trained not to go after things.

I have on of those. My Shih Tzu  looooves to ride.

I also have a walky dog for the Golden retriever. She has tried once to catch a kitty while on it But we did ok .. the attachment is mounted on the seat .. enough weight there to counter the attack

When he's off leash he pays attention to nothing but me. When he's on leash, he's not like that. I think it's some sort of leash reactivity, and i have been working on it for months.

Oh.  Yeah I can symathize on that one. 

Hopefully it works out and you can use the bike attachment.  I have always wanted to try one myself.  Good luck and do post if you try it and let the rest of us know how it works!

 I just wanted to point out that many dogs, mine included have a different mentality on a collar and leash as they do when they are in harness, which you use with a bike attachment.  My dogs, Crusher mostly, is almost snobby when he's ''working'', like nothing is worth his time.  Its funny.  I don't know if thats a husky thing or not though.
