    K9 Advantix

    Hi,

Does K9 Advantix really work, like Frontline Plus? I don't want to spend the money for something, that doesn't work. The only thing I've ever found to work is Frontline Plus, but I want to try K9 Advantix and just want to make sure it DOES work.

I used it on Harley.  I asked the vet about if it was safe around my rabbit which was housed in the kitchen with him.  The vet said yes...well he was wrong my rabbit became ill and died before I could get her to a vet.  The rabbit was in a cage and on a stand so she wasn't even near Harley.

Becareful when using if you have other animals then dogs!  It is not safe if you have cats or rabbits and most likely other small animals!  Harley also got really red skin from it.  It worked for him except for the red skin.

I will never use it again.

Yes it works fine.  I have found that it seems to work better on the fleas than frontline and frontline seems to work better on the ticks.

I had to switch Kord off  the frontline, it just was not working, I have used the K-9 for 2 months now and he is much much better!

We had that problem and I know many others with the same problem.  What I ended up doing is rotating between advantix and frontline one month to the next.  As I said Frontline seems to work better with ticks and advantix seems to work better with fleas.

it's got the same troubling ingredient as biospot- permethrin. Biospot has harmed a number of dogs.

I switched from Frontline to K-9 Advantix with Stitches the summer I first got her. I lived in an apartment complex and was using Frontline Plus because my husband said that they had always had really good luck with that on their dogs. However, many other dogs also lived in the apartment complex and she ended up getting fleas on the Frontline Plus. I kept using it for about a month more and then at her annual vet appointment I told her vet and he recommended K-9 Advantix. So far it has worked great with no problems for her. She's been on it for almost three years.
Right now Quincy is on Frontline Plus because the vet I took him to Saturday only had that and since he had been given a Capstar since he had fleas that day, I wanted to make sure I used something for flea prevention on him as soon as I could since he is smaller then Stitches and I couldn't have used her K-9 Advantix that night.
If you are heavily infested with fleas and live somewhere like an apartment complex, I would recommend K-9 Advantix based on Stitches' experience.
Having said that, though, if the Frontline Plus is working on your dog, I would probably stick with that. I'm always afraid of trying a new product like flea/tick or heartworm prevention if the old one is working in case of a reaction or it not working as well. Fleas are a pain in the rear to get out of your house or apartment once they are in there.

Thanks everyone for your input! -- I think I am going to stick with Frontline Plus for the simple fact that I know it works and we've been using it for about 6 months now. I live in a house, with two cats also and it works GREAT on them! Like you, STITCHES, I am reluctant to try something new, that I have never used before, especially when it comes to my family or animals. I just tend to stick with what I know and trust.

    Thanks again!

Glad I could help. And I would definitely stick with Frontline if it's working and you have cats. I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you had cats in my first post. K-9 Advantix can be harmful to them if they are playing with the dog and lick it off or get it on them.
