YAY! The city has tentatively approved the special event permit for my training company's rally obedience trial! This will be the first APDTrules trial in Dallas- I'll post more updates) but YAY!! It's going to be outdoors since the indoor sites locally are all so expensive and worrying about what site we were going to use was a HUGE worry. (We've even got a GREAT backup site!) The park we're holding it at is one of the three I regularly train at- up on a big (for Dallas) hill, plenty of shade except for the ring space itself, AND we got approval to have dogs off leash in the ring as long as the ring gates are actual fencing and not just chain and post. (Which is fine, as APDT rules require that anyway.)
Now we're just waiting to hear from the sanction committee to make sure it's sanctioned (if it isn't, we'll run it as a match/non-titling trial) but YAY! APDT rally is SO neat- lots of intersting exercises, great courses that are a little longer than AKC courses, and it's open to ALL dogs- not just AKC-recognized purebreds. We've got our judges lined up and we'll have four trials over the course of two days- so folks can title a dog even if this is the only APDT event they ever do.
So, if you're in Dallas and interested in rally, mark your calendar- I'll post an event notice on the events forum as soon as I finish writing the premium.
