Anyone have must sees in Atlanta?

Anyone have must sees in Atlanta?

Hubby and I are taking a long weekend trip to Atlanta in April.  We are flying in on a Wednesday and will be in charge of our own entertainment for Wednesday and Thursday while his brother is working.  His mom and step dad will be with us.  Are there any really cool museums or landmarks that we should try to see while we are there?  We are open to all kinds of suggestions.  I know there is a winery there right down the street from his brother's house which we have been to before when they got married but other than that I am clueless...I will be doing some online research as well but I always love those hidden treasures that I may not come across on my own.

if you like greasy hamburgers, check out the varsity.

edit: if you are a baseball fan, check out turner field. it is a nice ballpark.

There is the new aquarium-which I heard is really good. The Fox Theater is really neat if there is a show or movie when you are there.  It is a really old theater that is really neat.  There is the zoo.  Stone Mountain Park and Stone Mountain Village.  Centennial Olympic Park and the surrounding area.  Try the Varsity for lunch.  It is across the expressway from GA Tech.  They serve hot dogs, hamburgers, and other sandwiches and chicken I think.  The atmosphere is just different from most fast food places.  If there is a game or anything in Atlanta, everybody goes to the varsity.  There is a museum, I just can't think of the name of it right now.  The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is also neat, but I am not sure they are performing at this time of year.  The Spaghetti Factory is fun to go to.  Also the Atlanta Fish Market. Both of these are restarants.  Also the Cheesecake Factory is a really good restarant, but it is often very busy.

These are what I can think of off the top of my head.  I'll post more if I think of them.

If you do NOTHING ELSE, you MUST eat at Fat Matt's Rib Shack.  You've just gotta.  Can't beat a big slab o ribs and live LOUD blues.  They have a website even, you can check out the schedule, just google them.

it is the high museum. when we lived there, we were members. they have a pretty nice permanent collection, and they get pretty good exhibits from time to time.

I would suggest the Coke museum, the Underground (not wonderful, but everyone should be able to say they have been through it), Mall of GA (if you like to shop), Centennial Park.

I loved the botanical gardens.  They were beautiful, serene, & they had very cool sculptures & fountains throughout.

The aquarium was very nice as well.  Have fun!!!

All of the above are good suggestions.  I also like Fernbank museum of natural history.  If I had to choose one thing to do though, it would definitely be the aquarium.

Tons of people told me to go here, so i went and checked it out and it was horrible. Well, the made for TV store was kinda cool. There was also some druggie in the bathroom trying to mug people.

Thanks for all the suggestions!  Keep them coming if you have them b/c we have a couple months to plan!  This is exactly the input I was looking for.  In looking for a couple minutes today it sounds like there are tons of museums and other things there to do.  The aquarium sounds very interesting if we can get my mother in law and her husband interested as well.  I would also love to go to the art museum.
