I love my dogs more than I love some of my own family!!!!
They are like children to me and always will be. I am going thru "empty nest syndrome" a little bit right now with my oldest daughter (23) in Virginia and leaving for Japan soon for 3-4 years and my 22 y.o. lives w/me, but is never home, so............ As you both said, they are always excited to see me when I come home with their little bodies wiggling in joy, puppy kisses all around. If I've had a bad day, they brighten it. I set my alarm 45 minutes early for snuggle time. Abbie isn't much of a snuggler, but Layla (the black & white Shih tzu in my avatar) loves to snuggle and even though she's almost 2, she still has that puppy quality. They adore me and I adore them. I went through some difficult times over the last year with my health, etc. and they were always there for me - even when I practically had to crawl to take them out to go potty and feed them and that's all I could do because I was so sick, but they were there for me and for that I am forever grateful. They are always on my mind and I miss them terribly when I'm at work or away and can't take them with me. I can't imagine a day without them in my life!!!!!
