rwbeagles-Foreclosure? Nah...burn it to the ground!

DH was telling me about this and I thought he was full of it. But, apparently NOT. Every day on our news there's seemingly a VERY nice home in a VERY nice neighborhood going up...conveniently when the family is safely away from home...

    Thoughts?

They've had some stories on our news here too. It's hard to imagine feeling that desperate and it's even hard to imagine that people truly believe they'd get away with it. DH is a firefighter, so I seriously hope that it doesn't become a trend in our area.

According to the news, that's becoming more and more common, especially in Stockton where there are more house in foreclosure than not - trash the house, then abandon it with the dogs inside. Just a little south of us there's a neighborhood where the homeowners found themselves in a real mess through no fault of their own.  They bought their houses in a new development last summer. The builder must have known he was in deep financial trouble, but he kept selling anyway.  He didn't pay any of his subcontractors or suppliers and the CA state constitution allows them to go after the owners of the property where the work was done - owners who already paid the builder for this work and never imagined that he was going to file for bankruptcy without paying the subcontractors or suppliers. A lot of them may very well lose their homes over this.
