GREAT FIND For all upcoming wedding folks

I know there are at least 4 or 5 of us here who are engaged and at least 1 with a family member soon to be married … Ms. Cathy ;)  so I thought I would pass on this great find I came across today.

We have been struggling with what to do with our wedding invitations.  We are cutting costs wherever we can and it seems insane to me to spend between $250-$500 for 50 invitations.  We decided to order through a friend of the family in order to save costs, but since we are hand making everything else for our wedding, we thought we would give the invitations a try.

Every time I looked at the invitation kits I was under whelmed with both the styles available and the quality. SO I put this option out of my mind. Today when the future Dh and I were at Michaels store looking at Vellum samples for the invitations I came across some invitation kits I saw in last months issue of Brides Magazine. The styles in the magazine were great, but none were the right style and colors for us…. Until I saw the ones in the store.

I really love the ones I found and the colors of the chocolate brown and ivory with the vine style that looks vintage is PERFECT.  I can customize them enough I think to incorporate the hand drawn ships my stepdad made for our invitations and scanned into the computer (he also drew the ship on his invitations 30 years ago when he married my mom, so these were really special to me to be able to use).  I can also add in some vellum and some taupe colored ribbon or paper to utilize even more of our wedding colors.  The style was classy, quality is very good and the best part is that each kit only costs $35.  It just so happened with today being Presidents day sales, I was able to scrounge up two 50% coupons and so we bought ALL of our wedding invitations for only $35.

I am ecstatic!  The program this company uses also seems easy.

So even if your wedding isn’t for another couple years and you don’t ever even plan to make your own invitations, save this link anyway just in case. Besides, they also have “save the date cards” and all sorts of other things that I am sure are also high quality.  You really can’t beat some of their styles.

Here is the link… oh, and the one I got is the one displayed at the top, center under “new brides wedding collection”.  My favorite part I think about it is that cute little pocket on the left side that you tuck your RSVP cards and direction cards, etc. into.

ETA- I can only comment on the quality of their BRIDES MAGAZINE products.  the other ones may or may not be as nice, but all the "brides" ones from Michaels, were very high quality

ETA #2- almost forgot that most of the BRIDES styles also have boxes of Thank Yous in the same style... again for very cheap.  i only need 1 box and it will cost me $10, plus i can probably scrounge another 50% of coupon. Wink

OMG!  It is hard to see that on the actual invitation but what an awesome idea to make a little pocket for the RSVP and directions cards!   I love those invitations.  They will look great with your theme.Big Smile

Thanks Sweetie!  i haven't gotten to your email yet, but I figured you hadn't seen the little pocket where the RSVP and the directions, etc can go.  i still want to add velum placed on top of the invitation.  But when I saw these, this is totally why i knew I had to abort the "making my own completely" idea. These are really fantastic and I think I can infuse enough of "ourselves" and what we wanted to replicate with my parents old invitation in them.  Which btw, when I was on their site, I was reminded that you can make your own stamps with whatever pic you want on it.  i am thinking I might be ALL OVER making my dads ship drawings he did for me into stamps and using them on the invites and RSVP cards and even giving some to my dad as a "thank you" gift.     Smile

What a great idea and as usual, every idea you share makes me so envious of all the fun you must be having. You may want to go into business after this as a wedding planner Wink.

We got the invitation in the mail on Sat. for my SD's wedding and I have to say that they're very simple but nice. Nothing as creative as the ones on that website, but I have a feeling she's in panic mode trying to get everything taken care of with less than 2 months to go.

I think the idea of using your dad's drawing is another great idea and he would probably be delighted to see it used for that too.

LOL.. NO.. I don’t think so cuz even though I think it would be fun to do, I don’t want to work with all the brides.  ;)

Awww.. darn I didn’t  catch this great find in time for your stepdtrs wedding.. too bad.

They tried to pull off a wedding in a really short period of time if I remember right?   I would be in panic mode too!Surprise

BTW- for anyone who might be interested in using these, last night in less than 20 minutes, I made our invitations and the RSVP cards by using the template they give you off this companies website. EASIEST template to use, it is just a word doc set up with the right margins in place and they give you examples of wording etc. It was far easier to do these ourself than expected though since i have time I will tweak a lot of stuff till I am sure I have exactly what I want.
