    Harnesses ...again

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced harness for Bugsy.  He has very, very little hair under his arms and on his belly and the hair on the rest of him is very short.  with the Sporn and the easy walk he has gotten some significant irritation so that I can't use them day after day.

I am not particularly looking for a no-pull type just a comfy harness

some of these look very nice and are made with the dogs comfort in mind since they are working harnesses.

check out the urban trail harness - it's fully padded under neath

Thanks - I'll bookmark this page this time I couldn't remember the name from other posts on harnesses Confused

I like the Halti harness in terms of front-clip harnesses. It has leather sewn onto the sides of it to prevent chafing of the armpit region. My girls, being Mini Schnauzers, have very little hair on their bodys/bellies (I like a short clip so keep them pretty short regularly), and they haven't been bothered by it.

I also have a VestHarness, which I tend to only use for travelling to attach to a seatbelt (I prefer the wide/broad vest-style for more protection than the thinner, traditional styles in case of accident) but might be something that interests you. This is what they look like:

That's actually the company website too, so if it interests you you can likely found out where to get one for yourself.

    Just as two more options.

Go to a tack shop and buy the fleece protectors used on bridles... Work great.  Usually attach via velcro

mrv, great idea!! I bet you could make them pretty easily, too.

I would suggest the cloth type harness that sort of looks like a T-shirt with a hook, but would Bugsy be too strong for something like that? Or for a mesh harness, like the Puppia style ones?

I can't find anything like that for dogs over like 15 pounds. Do they exist??

I don't think they DO exist for larger dogs.  I use a Gooby harness on Aspen & I wish it came in a Grady size but no.

Why is all the fun stuff just for little dogs?? BIG DOGS NEED LOVE TOO!! Big Smile

I know!  I'm one of those weirdos that likes to put sweaters on my dogs.  I FINALLY found a fun hoodie for Grady.  Actually I don't force him to wear them but when it's super cold I do.  It seems to keep his skin from drying out too badly.  Amazingly enough I found it @ Target.

I'm a big fan of Premier's SureFit Harness.  It adjusts in 5 places (front and back each side and the piece that runs between the front legs).  For the last 4+ years of his life, Mick had to wear a harness anytime he was on lead, and it never rubbed him.  But, like someone else suggested, you can put the bridle fleece on it if it rubs.

Jeeze, that Premier harness comes in SO MANY COLORS. I kinda want one for Pirate, since he's an oddball size.

Aspen is a weird fit too.  The Gooby harness is the best fit I've found yet.

yea! Lots of great ideas here.  MRV I especially like the idea of putting the fleecy things on.  I have no idea why they don't make those mesh/cloth/vest type harnesses in bigger sizes.  I would love one like that for Bugsy.

And I can certainly relate to the odd size - nothing fits Bugsy right.  I saw something like that sure fit harness the other day in a pet shop, that just might work with the fleecy things from the tack shop.

Bugsy rolling his eyes - pwease don't make me wook stoopid Ma!

Planet Dog makes a nice hemp fleece lined harness.

I haven't personally used one, but the hemp is pretty flexible and the fleece is nice.
