Good luck! I am not surprised they are looking now - the return of rain in many areas has the goose population booming (lots of grass). I've got people begging me for dogs but I've only got one here now and she's promised to someone!
This is what I do, by the way. I train dogs to go on to go into homes like you are hoping yours will be! It's a wonderful outlet for well-trained rescues with the right instincts for the job (but the wrong instincts to be pets!
)
If you get the job, you will be matched with a dog that is appropriate for your home. My dogs, for instance, are fully trained to come when called, stay with you unless asked to go work, leave stuff alone that isn't their business, and of course have all their basic obedience and manners. My dogs are also fully socialized and also, as a client of mine calls it, "Anti-socialized" - that is, trained to ignore strangers just as a guide dog is not allowed to acknowledge attempts to distract him from work.
Wouldn't it be funny if you ended up with a dog trained here? I only work a few each year so you'd know.
Go get em, girl!
