haha, no, no pun was intended there!
My topic will be more physical abuse - since that stands up better in a court, and there is more written on it. I'm not sure how well emotional abuse would be related to physical animal abuse. The paper is for my comp 2 class (why we have to take TWO of those classes, I'll never understand....)
Janice - your suggestion about going to a battered woman shelter is great! But... I don't know how well that would work, how willing they would be to talk about it. I'd start crying - that's for sure! We have a program at the shelter I work at called Continued Care, where people in tough situations can "board" their dogs with us, and after 30 days, come back and get them. One dog we got in was a victim of abuse, had a huge gash on his side that the mom had taken to the e-vet to treat. She was on her way to a protective womans shelter. She also gave us her cat, which ended up being FIV positive. In the end, she couldn't come back for her dog, he's up for adoption now. I think this was the story that really sparked my interest in this topic.
