    I saw something very distrubing

We went to the cemetery to walk the dogs before it got dark. We were walking along the tree line like we always do and all of a sudden my husband yells to the dogs get back and he picked up Max... I picked up Zoey and Louie had a look of "I want nothing to do with this" and Miss Mattie NOSEY BUTT that she is Im hoping she didn't get near what I thought was a dead coyote....

We move on FAST by the scene  and got done with the walk and got the dogs in the car and IM still disturbed by what I saw and I must go back and look at it...In my mind I wanted to know if it was a dog or what kind of animal.... So I go back.... and I see its a dog that looks very imensated....I stayed back cause it was so scary looking to me.... and then I see 4 more dead dogs... 2 each of the same breed... NOT puppies either.... they were slightly covered with a striped sheet then I look around more and find 2 more smaller dogs dead..... RIGHT NOW IM shaky even typing this cause Im so scared of "Parvo" So I called my vet and they really think that the dogs were probably poisoned and dumped more than sick with Parvo.....Iv called every TOM *** and HARRY to go pick these dogs up but when your outside city limits everyone passed the buck on to someone else... Iv called animal control... the sheriff... public works....and so on.... What in the WORLD do you guys think happened??? Im just completely shook by what I saw.... VERY disturbing indeed.... Im sure I will have nightmares tonight

I just worry about Mattie and Louie they were the closes ones to the scene.... Louie was clearly distrubed by it and got the heck away the minute we told him to except for Miss Mattie pants....

Do you guys think I have anything to be worried about..... Sad

I have NO idea, but **hugs**. That sounds so scary!

If they were not puppies then it is very very unlikely that they died of parvo. I would not worry about your dogs catching anything.

It could have been poison, or it could have been a vet's office or shelter that did not want to bother disposing of dogs the proper way. It's certainly cheaper for them to just dump the bodies.

I remember a case in the news years ago about a funeral home or crematorium doing the same thing with human bodies. Just dumped them in the woods.

Seriously? Parvo? Calm down and lets talk this through. IF it was parvo what are the chances of all the dogs being affected and dying at the same exact time? Otherwise we'd have to assume they were saved until they all died to be dropped off together? Not likely

What are the chances of them all being dropped off at the same place? I'd think someone dropping dead dogs off would be more discreet about it for fear of getting caught with so many dead dogs.

It sounds to me like they were poisened or were puppy mill dogs who no longer were of use. If anything I'd be keeping my dog close for fear of creepy weirdo's out there dog napping and poisining dogs.

They clearly were all dumped together.... I just figured maybe where ever they were or lived maybe they all dog sick and then they disposed of them.

Its so sad and so shocking to see such a thing .....

Funny you should say this cause a brand new small vets office just opened nearby... Man I would hate to think that... but the strange things is... the 4 dogs covered 2 and 2 were the same breed. These clearly were not mill dogs or backyard breeding dogs. I have way to much experience and I would know for years of doing Rescue with mill dogs and backyard breeding dogs.... It was upsetting.... Sorry for my typo's in these emails my mind goes faster than my fingers and I don't proof read :)

I wonder if someone owned all these dogs and couldn't afford to care of them so they poisoned them....I will stay on it and see they get picked up.....

That's really distressing to have to see!  Sad  If AC has passed the buck, I would call the cemetery and find out if they poisoned them or if they know they are on the property.  If they come off like they don't care or aren't concerned, call the Health Department and file a complaint.  It's likely that the cemetery did poison them.  I understand it's rather common for people to dump unwanted animals at a cemetery and then they form a pack with other dogs there and they sometimes become aggressive towards visitors.  If local AC isn't of help, the staff will put out poison to solve the problem.  But this is an issue that must be taken care of.  It could attract other scavenger animals like coyotes and could pose a risk to elderly visitors to the cemetery.

    Really sad.

Oh, my. . . .I don't know what could of happened.  But, how awful for you guys to have to see it!!  I would be just devasted to see a sight like that being such a dog lover.

No no no... the cemetery didn't posion these dogs.... This is out in the country and we go there all the time... This is clearly something that an individual did..... This is outside city limits so its hard to get someone to take responsibility for picking them up but Im staying on it even if I have to call cemetery myself about the situation.

Now we have a large lake area were dogs are dumped but animal control picks them up because they can become packs and get aggressive....

I highly, highly, doubt a vets office or shelter dumped the bodies - they could be shut down if caught doing something like that. They were probably someones "pets" that they no longer wanted. Sad, but more than likely true. Dead bodies can harbor diseases, so you are right in keeping your dogs away from them. Contact your local sanatation department, they are the ones that pick up the dead bodies off the road - and they would prbably be the ones to pick these up too.

I will make more calls today. Its so frustrating when nobody wants to help with a situation like this.... My husband and I think that someone died and these were their pets and the family didn't know what to do with them so killed them and put them there. It took some thought as to leaving them were they did..... It just doesn't add up....

Sorry for the confusion.  That's so sad, I hope you get someone to take care of it.  And that it doesn't happen again!

I called the cemetery and they are going to take care of it right away. I will probably have to make sure they do..... which means going back by myself without my dogs..... They were very very nice about the situation..... Again.... We are thinking someone died and the family didn't know what to do with the dogs so they killed them and dumped them there...... It was just to thought out...cause there are so many places around here to dump dogs that nobody would ever find them.....

I just got off the phone with the cemetary and they are SOOOOOOOOO nice..... He told me the dogs showed suffering from Malnutrition he couldn't see any blunt injuries...they had the sheriff come out and if animal control won't take the dogs he said that they would give the dogs a nice burial.... This makes me FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. He was in as much shock as I was to find such a happening of 7 dogs dead like this all together. I told him Im a huge animal lover and this has been very upsetting to me.... but Im so glad that someone was kind enough to take care of this in such a kind manor.... It helps restore a bit of humanity in me....

What a sad story. Maybe they were victims of the foreslosure epidemic. There were more stories about it on MSN again today. It absolutely breaks my heart and makes me angry to think that people can just trash and strip a house and leave their "pets" behind to suffer a slow and agonizing death like that. I'll say it again - What is wrong with people?!?!?!
